Aditya Thackeray Named by Disha Salian’s Father in CBI Statement; Satish Salian Says ‘I Told Them Everything That Happened…’

Six years after the death of Disha Salian, her father Satish Salian has recorded his statement before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), marking a significant development in the renewed investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Satish Salian appeared at the CBI office in Mumbai on Friday, where investigators recorded his account following directions from the Bombay High Court.

According to Salian and his lawyer, his statement included the names of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, actors Sooraj Pancholi and Dino Morea, as well as others.

It is important to note that being named in a statement does not establish criminal wrongdoing or guilt. The allegations are claims made by Disha Salian’s father and will be subject to investigation by the CBI.

What did Disha Salian’s father tell the CBI?

Speaking after recording his statement, Satish Salian said he gave investigators a detailed account of what he believes happened surrounding his daughter’s death.

“I stated the facts exactly as they were; I told them everything that happened to my daughter,” Salian told ANI.

He further claimed, “I listed all the names: Aditya, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea, and the bodyguards. They noted everything down.”

According to Salian, investigators told him further action would be taken based on his statement. He expressed confidence that the investigation would eventually establish the truth.

“The truth cannot be defeated. God stands where the truth is; that is why justice will be served,” he said.

His lawyer Nilesh Ojha also said that the CBI recorded Salian’s statement on Friday in accordance with the High Court’s directions.

Why is the CBI investigating Disha Salian’s death?

The latest development follows a September 2 order of the Bombay High Court directing a CBI investigation into the case.

The court also directed the agency to register an FIR and record the statement of Disha Salian’s father.

Satish Salian had approached the High Court questioning the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death and seeking a fresh investigation.

Disha Salian, who had worked as a celebrity manager and was formerly associated professionally with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malavani area.

Her death was initially investigated as an Accidental Death Report (ADR).

Bombay High Court had raised questions over ADR

During an earlier hearing, a Division Bench comprising Justice Bharti Dangre and Justice Manjusha Deshpande raised questions over why only an ADR had been registered despite allegations raised by the family.

The court also noted that copies of the post-mortem report and ADR had allegedly not been supplied to Disha’s family even years after her death.

The High Court’s intervention has now led to the CBI taking up the matter and recording Satish Salian’s statement.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister reacts to CBI inquiry

The development has also drawn a response from Shweta Singh Kirti, sister of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Earlier, Kirti expressed hope that the fresh investigation would bring greater clarity to the case, stressing her belief that the truth could ultimately prevail.

Disha’s death in June 2020 occurred just days before Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020. The two cases have subsequently been the subject of intense public discussion and speculation.

However, any alleged connection between individuals or events remains a matter for investigating agencies and courts to establish on the basis of evidence.

What happens next?

With Satish Salian’s statement now recorded, attention will turn to the CBI’s next steps.

The agency will have to examine the claims made before it, assess available documentary and forensic material and determine what further questioning or investigative action is warranted.

For Satish Salian, the renewed investigation represents another attempt to seek answers six years after his daughter’s death.

For those named in his statement, however, the legal distinction remains crucial: a name appearing in a complainant or witness statement is not, by itself, proof of involvement in an offence. Any conclusions will depend on evidence gathered by the CBI and subsequent judicial proceedings.
