Sooraj Pancholi shares an emotional statement on Instagram, urging responsible reporting and asking media platforms to present the complete truth after his acquittal in the Jiah Khan case.

Mumbai: Actor Sooraj Pancholi has spoken publicly about the emotional toll of the Jiah Khan case, years after being acquitted by a special CBI court. In a lengthy statement shared on Instagram, the actor criticised sections of the media and social media users for allegedly spreading misleading information despite the legal proceedings having concluded.

Expressing his frustration, Sooraj said there are “no unanswered questions” in the case and urged people to verify facts before publishing or sharing content.“There is nothing unanswered. The court examined the evidence, the facts and the law. I was acquitted, and the records are available publicly for anyone who genuinely wants to know the truth,” he said in his statement.

Reflects on 14-Year Legal Battle

Looking back on the case, Sooraj Pancholi said he was only 20 years old when the tragic incident took place and had known Jiah Khan for only a few months.

He shared that he was unaware of the personal struggles she was experiencing and described the years that followed as the most challenging period of his life.

According to the actor, the next 14 years were spent fighting to prove his innocence instead of focusing on his career and personal growth.“Those were the years when I should have been building my career and my life. Instead, I spent my twenties and a significant part of my thirties attending court hearings. Only I know what I went through mentally and emotionally,” he wrote.

He added that after placing his faith in the judicial process, he was eventually acquitted and questioned what more he could do if people continued to label him guilty despite the court’s verdict.

Calls for Responsible Reporting

In his statement, Sooraj also said that throughout the legal proceedings, he chose not to discuss Jiah Khan’s personal life or the private conversations they had shared.

He maintained that he respected her privacy despite facing immense public scrutiny and now expects the same fairness and dignity in return.

The actor criticised what he described as careless headlines, misleading videos and incomplete narratives, saying such content continues to revive painful memories long after the case has ended.“For many people, this may just be another headline. For me, it has been my entire life. Every false story and misleading video brings back the pain I have spent years trying to overcome,” he wrote.

Appeal for Fairness

Concluding his message, Sooraj Pancholi appealed to journalists, content creators and social media users to report responsibly and present verified facts rather than sensationalised narratives.

He urged those covering his journey to tell “the complete truth”, emphasising the importance of honesty, sensitivity and professionalism when reporting on matters that have deeply affected people’s lives.
