Months after introducing the Exynos 2600 chipset, Samsung is already working on its next flagship mobile processor. Fresh leaks indicate that the upcoming Exynos 2700 could bring one of the company’s biggest performance upgrades in recent years, with reports pointing to a significantly higher clock speed for its prime CPU core.

Although Samsung has not officially revealed the chipset’s specifications, early information suggests the company is targeting a notable improvement that could power its future premium smartphones.

Leak Suggests 4.2GHz Prime Core

According to a recent leak shared by tipster Schrödinger (@phonefuturist) on X, Samsung’s System LSI Business is aiming for a peak clock speed of up to 4.2GHz for the Exynos 2700’s prime CPU core.

If achieved, this would mark a substantial jump over previous Exynos processors and could significantly improve performance in demanding tasks such as gaming, AI processing, and multitasking.

However, the leak also notes that reaching this target may depend on the production efficiency of Samsung Foundry’s SF2P 2nm manufacturing process, with manufacturing yields reportedly needing to exceed 65–70 percent.

Since Samsung has not officially confirmed these specifications, the reported clock speed should be treated as an early rumour rather than a finalized feature.

Geekbench Listing Revealed Early Architecture

The Exynos 2700 recently appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform under the model number S5E9975, offering an early glimpse into its architecture.

According to the listing, the processor features a 10-core CPU configuration, including:

  • 1 core clocked at 2.30GHz
  • 4 cores running at 2.40GHz
  • 1 core clocked at 2.78GHz
  • 4 performance cores reaching up to 2.88GHz

These benchmark figures differ from the latest leaked 4.2GHz claim, suggesting Samsung could still be testing different configurations during development.

Samsung Confirms Development Is Underway

Adding credibility to the reports, Park Yong-In, President of Samsung System LSI Business, has reportedly confirmed during an internal company briefing that development of the Exynos 2700 has officially begun.

According to reports, the executive stated that development is “proceeding without setbacks”, with Samsung aiming to equip its future top-tier smartphones with the new flagship processor.

The confirmation indicates that Samsung remains committed to strengthening its in-house Exynos platform despite increasing competition in the premium chipset market.

Expected to Power the Galaxy S27 Series

Industry reports suggest the Samsung Galaxy S27 lineup could become the first smartphones to feature the Exynos 2700 chipset.

The upcoming processor is also expected to include the next-generation Xclipse 970 GPU, offering improved graphics performance for gaming and AI-powered workloads.

Rumours further indicate that Galaxy S27 models may ship with 12GB RAM and launch with Android 17 out of the box, although Samsung has yet to confirm these specifications.
