‘Young Kids May Not Recognise Us’: Raveena Tandon reveals why she introduced herself as ‘Rasha’s Mom’

Veteran Bollywood star Raveena Tandon, known for her iconic performances over the last three decades, recently surprised many when she introduced herself at a school event in Mumbai not as a film star but simply as “Rasha’s mom.”

The moment quickly grabbed attention online, with fans curious about why one of Bollywood’s most recognisable faces chose that introduction.

Now, Raveena has opened up about the reason behind it and her answer has struck a chord with many.

Speaking about the moment, the actress explained that today’s younger generation connects more with newer stars and viral music than with actors from previous decades.

“There’s definitely a lot of motherly love. But these young kids, the younger generation, may not recognise us today. They have their own songs, their own favourite actors, and they are fans of the younger generation of stars,” Raveena shared.

She added that introducing herself in relation to her daughter Rasha Thadani felt like the easiest way for students to identify with her.

Rasha, who made her Bollywood debut in 2025 with the period action drama Azaad, has quickly become a familiar face among Gen Z audiences. Her popularity surged after the viral success of the song Uyi Amma, which became widely popular across social media platforms.

“It’s superb that in such a comedy where everybody is working hard, people are acknowledging the performance. I think that’s terrific,” she said.

Describing the experience as refreshing, she added that she had been looking for a light-hearted comedy, and Welcome To The Jungle came at the perfect time.
