Toyota has taken another step towards cleaner mobility by showcasing the Toyota Fortuner Flex Fuel at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026. The ethanol-powered SUV reflects the Japanese automaker’s commitment to offering multiple low-emission powertrain technologies instead of relying solely on electric vehicles.

While Toyota has not officially confirmed an India launch, the unveiling has sparked speculation as the Indian government continues to encourage higher ethanol blending in petrol as part of its clean energy roadmap.

What is the Toyota Fortuner Flex Fuel?

The Toyota Fortuner Flex Fuel is designed to run on varying blends of petrol and ethanol, allowing drivers to use high ethanol-blended fuels without making any major modifications to the vehicle.

Flex-fuel technology is considered an important alternative for reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Since ethanol is a renewable fuel, it has the potential to lower overall carbon emissions when produced through sustainable methods.
