BMW Opens Pre-Bookings for Updated 7 Series & i7 in India… Bigger Screens, More Power and Longer EV Range Await Buyers
The facelifted luxury sedan lineup brings a redesigned exterior, cutting-edge cabin technology, upgraded powertrains, and a larger battery pack for the all-electric BMW i7.
BMW India has officially opened pre-bookings for the updated BMW 7 Series and the all-electric BMW i7, ahead of their launch in the Indian market. Interested customers can reserve the luxury sedans through authorised BMW dealerships across the country or via the company’s official website.
The facelifted models arrive only a few months after making their global debut, bringing a host of cosmetic, technological, and mechanical upgrades to both the petrol, diesel, and electric variants.
Sharper design with illuminated kidney grille
The refreshed 7 Series and i7 feature subtle yet premium styling changes that enhance their road presence.
At the front, BMW has introduced an illuminated kidney grille, giving the flagship sedan a more distinctive appearance, especially at night. The split LED headlamp setup has also been redesigned, with slimmer daytime running lights positioned above compact main lighting units integrated into the bumper.
The rear profile receives slimmer LED tail lamps extending deeper into the tailgate, complemented by smoked glass elements and refined chrome detailing. BMW has also neatly integrated the boot release button, rear camera, and washer nozzle for a cleaner overall look.
Cabin gets a major technology upgrade
Inside, the facelift focuses heavily on digital innovation and passenger comfort.
The dashboard is dominated by a 17.9-inch central touchscreen running BMW’s latest Operating System, while front passengers now get their own 14.6-inch display for entertainment and navigation functions.
One of the biggest changes is the replacement of the traditional instrument cluster with a full-width projection display positioned at the base of the windscreen, offering drivers a futuristic viewing experience.

More power for petrol and diesel models
BMW has also upgraded the performance of its mild-hybrid powertrains.
The 740i xDrive petrol variant now develops 400 bhp and 580 Nm of torque, delivering an increase of 19 bhp and 60 Nm over its predecessor.
Meanwhile, the 740d xDrive diesel produces 313 bhp and 670 Nm, gaining 27 bhp and 20 Nm.
Both variants continue to use a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder mild-hybrid engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
Electric BMW i7 gets a bigger battery and improved performance
The electric BMW i7 also receives significant upgrades.
The previous rear-wheel-drive i7 50 eDrive has been replaced by the i7 50 xDrive, which now comes with all-wheel drive as standard.
Both i7 variants now feature a larger 112.4 kWh battery pack, replacing the earlier 101.7 kWh unit to improve driving range and efficiency.
Performance figures have also improved:
- i7 50 xDrive: 455 bhp and 660 Nm
- i7 M70 xDrive: 680 bhp and up to 1,100 Nm of torque
The updates make the flagship electric sedan even more competitive in the luxury EV segment.
Expected pricing
The current BMW 7 Series is priced at ₹1.85 crore (ex-showroom) for both petrol and diesel variants.
The BMW i7 is currently available between ₹2.10 crore and ₹2.58 crore (ex-showroom).
BMW is expected to announce a modest price increase when the facelifted models are officially launched in India.
