One Year After Shefali Jariwala’s Sudden Death, The Biggest Mystery Still Remains: What Really Happened That Night?
A year after the shocking demise of the ‘Kaanta Laga’ star, unanswered medical questions, public speculation, and her family’s grief continue to overshadow the search for the truth.
Mumbai: Exactly one year has passed since the untimely death of Shefali Jariwala, the actress and model who became a household name after the iconic ‘Kaanta Laga’ music video. Yet, despite months of investigations, media debates, and countless theories, the exact cause behind her sudden demise remains uncertain.
The entertainment industry was left stunned on the night of June 27, 2025, when the 42-year-old actress was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai by her husband, Parag Tyagi. Doctors declared her dead on arrival. While early reports pointed towards a cardiac arrest, no final medical conclusion has ever been officially confirmed.
One year later, the tragedy continues to raise more questions than answers.
A Night That Changed Everything
According to initial reports, Shefali collapsed at her residence before being rushed to the hospital. Her final rites were performed the following day at Mumbai’s Oshiwara crematorium.
The preliminary medical examination reportedly mentioned low blood pressure, cardiac arrest, and severe gastric complications as possible contributing factors. A post-mortem examination was conducted at Cooper Hospital, but the detailed forensic findings never publicly established a definitive cause of death.
Authorities registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) while continuing investigations into all possible medical factors.
The Medical Treatment That Sparked Nationwide Debate
Soon after her death, reports emerged claiming that Shefali had received a Vitamin C IV drip on the day she died.
Her close friend Pooja Ghai later clarified that Vitamin C infusions had become a common wellness practice for many people after the COVID-19 pandemic and insisted there was nothing unusual about the treatment itself.
Investigators reportedly questioned the person who administered the IV therapy and recovered several medical products from Shefali’s home, including Vitamin C injections, glutathione, and medicines for acidity.
According to sources involved in the investigation, Shefali had allegedly been using doctor-prescribed wellness treatments, including glutathione and collagen supplements, for several years.

However, medical experts repeatedly cautioned against drawing direct conclusions.
Doctors noted that while certain IV treatments can carry risks such as arrhythmia, hypotension, and cardiac complications under specific conditions, no evidence conclusively linked these therapies to Shefali’s sudden death.

Beauty Standards Came Under The Spotlight
As discussions around IV therapies and anti-ageing treatments intensified, the tragedy also triggered a larger debate about the pressure faced by celebrities—especially women—to maintain youthful appearances.
Many within the entertainment industry spoke openly about unrealistic beauty expectations and warned against unsupervised cosmetic treatments.
Television host Mini Mathur stressed that supplements and wellness therapies should only be taken under proper medical supervision, while actress Gul Panag described Shefali’s death as deeply unsettling and urged society to stop chasing “quick fixes” over long-term health.
Social Media Turned A Personal Tragedy Into Public Spectacle
The aftermath of Shefali’s death also exposed the darker side of celebrity culture.
Videos showing her grieving husband Parag Tyagi walking their pet dog shortly after the funeral went viral, prompting unfair criticism online. Another emotional clip captured him requesting photographers to respect his family’s privacy during their darkest hours.
Several celebrities, including Paras Chhabra, Himanshi Khurana, Rashami Desai, Tina Datta, Varun Dhawan, and Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, condemned insensitive media coverage and appealed for compassion.
Fans across social media remembered Shefali not only as the face of Kaanta Laga, but also as a warm-hearted person whose life ended far too soon.
Parag Tyagi Continues To Defend Her Legacy
Months after the tragedy, Parag Tyagi publicly rejected many of the reports circulating online.
He explained that Shefali’s monthly IV sessions consisted primarily of multivitamins, Vitamin C, collagen, and glutathione, all recommended by medical professionals years earlier.
He also dismissed claims suggesting that fasting had caused complications, saying that Shefali had eaten after performing a religious puja that day.
Since her passing, Parag has regularly shared emotional tributes and cherished memories on social media. One of the most touching gestures came when he got a permanent portrait of Shefali tattooed on his chest to honour her memory on what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary.
The Questions That Still Remain
Police questioned multiple individuals during the investigation, including family members, household staff, and security personnel. Forensic samples were sent for chemical analysis to determine whether any medication played a role in her sudden collapse.
Despite months of investigation, no evidence of foul play emerged, and the final forensic findings were never publicly released in a way that answered the lingering questions surrounding her death.
As a result, speculation has continued to overshadow facts.
Remembering Shefali Beyond The Mystery
While curiosity surrounding the circumstances of her death remains, many believe the conversation should now shift towards remembering Shefali Jariwala for her work, resilience, and vibrant personality rather than the unanswered mystery.
Her breakout performance in Kaanta Laga transformed her into one of India’s most recognisable pop culture icons of the early 2000s. Years later, she continued to win audiences with appearances on reality television and remained admired for her confidence and positivity.
One year after her passing, the search for definitive answers continues. But for her family, friends, and countless fans, perhaps the greatest tribute is allowing her legacy to be remembered with dignity instead of endless speculation.
