Shahid Kapoor confirms Farzi 2 is almost complete and hints at a release next year.

Fans of Shahid Kapoor have a big reason to celebrate as the actor has finally shared a major update on the release of Farzi 2, the sequel to his blockbuster OTT debut.

During an interactive Ask Me Anything session on Instagram on Tuesday, Shahid was flooded with questions from fans about the much-awaited second season of the crime thriller. One curious fan asked him directly about the status of Farzi 2, and the actor responded with exciting news.

“It is a work in progress. We are almost done. I think it should be out next year,” Shahid revealed, sparking fresh excitement among fans.

The actor is all set to step back into the shoes of Sunny, the clever and ambitious con artist who won hearts in the first season. Shahid had officially begun shooting for the new season in March this year and had shared a monochrome picture with the show’s creators, teasing fans with the caption: “Farzi 2 day 1… back at it!!!”

Even before filming began, Shahid had hinted at the sequel in February through another social media post featuring directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, popularly known as Raj & DK. The duo also fueled anticipation by sharing an image of stacked currency notes with the cryptic caption: “Round 2 in progress.”

The first season of Farzi, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in February 2023, quickly became one of the platform’s biggest hits. The eight-episode crime drama followed Sunny, a struggling artist who gets pulled into the dangerous world of counterfeit currency.

The series stood out for its gripping storyline, intense action, and powerful performances by an ensemble cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Raashii Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Bhuvan Arora, Regina Cassandra, and veteran actor Amol Palekar.

With production now nearing completion, expectations for Farzi 2 are sky-high. Fans are eager to see how Sunny’s story unfolds next and whether the cat-and-mouse chase between him and the law will intensify even further.

If Shahid’s latest update is anything to go by, the wait may finally end in 2027.
