A serious controversy has erupted in the Indian film industry after actor Satendra Soni, known for his role in Laapataa Ladies, alleged that he was threatened and denied payment for his work on a recent project in Madhya Pradesh.

The issue gained further momentum after the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) stepped in, calling for immediate legal action and urging the state government to ensure justice.

Actor’s Emotional Allegations Go Viral

Satendra Soni took to social media, sharing an emotional video in which he broke down while describing his ordeal. According to him, he was called to Maihar in Madhya Pradesh for a film shoot and worked for eight days. However, he claims he was not paid his agreed remuneration.

He further alleged that he received only an advance of ₹50,000 and was later threatened with violence when he demanded his remaining dues. The video quickly caught public attention, raising serious concerns about the treatment of artists in the industry.

AICWA Raises Strong Concerns

Responding to the allegations, AICWA issued a detailed statement highlighting the gravity of the situation. The association noted that such incidents are not isolated and reflect a broader issue within the film industry.

In its statement, AICWA said that “no artist or worker should have to endure such treatment” and emphasized that complaints regarding delayed or denied payments, along with alleged intimidation, must be taken seriously.

The body also pointed out that many workers are often promised fair compensation but later face exploitation when they demand their rightful dues.

Demand for FIR and Government Action

Taking a firm stance, AICWA urged Mohan Yadav to intervene in the matter. The association called on the state government to direct police authorities to register an FIR against the producer and director involved, based on Soni’s allegations.

Highlighting the urgency of the issue, the statement read, “This is not a minor matter… Every worker and artist deserves dignity, timely payment, and protection from intimidation.”

A Larger Industry Issue?

The incident has once again brought attention to the challenges faced by artists and crew members, especially those working outside the mainstream spotlight. While the glamour of cinema often takes centre stage, such cases reveal the vulnerabilities that exist behind the scenes.

As of now, there has been no official response from the accused parties. However, with AICWA’s intervention and growing public attention, the matter is likely to see further developments in the coming days.

For many in the industry, this case is not just about one actor—but about ensuring fairness, respect, and accountability for every individual working in cinema.
