She Deserves Justice: Cine Workers Body Urges SIT Probe into Sanchita Ugale’s Death, Questions Intensify
AICWA writes to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis seeking transparent investigation as concerns grow over rising industry tragedies
The sudden death of young television actor Sanchita Ugale has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry, prompting the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) to demand a high-level probe. The association has formally appealed to Devendra Fadnavis to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure a fair and transparent inquiry.
Sanchita, best known for her role in Kumkum Bhagya, was found dead at her residence in Mumbai on June 14. She was just 22.
AICWA Demands Transparent Investigation
In an open letter shared on social media, AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta stressed the need for a comprehensive probe into the circumstances surrounding the actor’s death.
“A thorough inquiry into every relevant circumstance will help establish the truth and provide clarity to the public,” the statement read. The association emphasized that transparency is crucial not only for justice but also to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The letter further urged the Maharashtra government to take broader action, highlighting recurring cases of deaths within the entertainment industry. “Sanchita Ugale deserves justice… and the truth must come to light,” the appeal added.

What Happened on June 14?
According to police reports, the incident took place between 7:00 and 7:30 PM at a residential building in Nalasopara East, Mumbai. Officials stated that Sanchita was found in her room, which was locked from the inside. She was later rushed to a hospital under the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation, where doctors declared her dead.

Based on a complaint filed by her father, Machinda Ugale, the Achole Police Station registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) under relevant legal provisions. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause and circumstances.
Industry Concern Grows
The incident has once again sparked conversations about mental health and pressures within the entertainment industry. While the exact reasons behind the tragedy remain unclear, AICWA’s demand for an SIT reflects a growing concern about accountability and systemic issues.
Sanchita Ugale had appeared in shows like Wagle Ki Duniya alongside Kumkum Bhagya, gradually building her presence in the television space. Her untimely death has left colleagues and fans stunned.
Call for Accountability and Change
AICWA has urged authorities not only to investigate this case thoroughly but also to examine patterns behind such incidents in the film and television industry.
“It is important that such tragic incidents are not repeated… and similar questions do not continue to arise year after year,” the association stated, calling for long-term measures.
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on ensuring transparency, accountability, and justice — both for Sanchita Ugale and for countless others navigating the challenges of the industry.
