‘The nation stands with PM Modi’: Devendra Fadnavis dismisses Delhi buzz again, responds to Opposition’s ‘BJP vs Bharat’ remark

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has once again dismissed speculation about a possible move to New Delhi, reiterating that his focus remains firmly on Maharashtra.

The clarification comes days after Fadnavis was called to the national capital, fuelling political speculation that he could be considered for a role in the Union Cabinet following the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

‘I am in Maharashtra only’

Speaking to reporters in Nagpur on Sunday, Devendra Fadnavis firmly rejected reports suggesting he was preparing to shift to Delhi.”Today, I am in Nagpur. In the evening, I shall go to Mumbai. I am in Mumbai only. I am in Maharashtra only.”

His remarks were seen as an attempt to put an end to speculation surrounding his political future and reaffirm his commitment to leading the state government.

Focus should remain on students, says Fadnavis

Later, while addressing a victory rally for students in Mumbai, organised by Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Fadnavis said the issue of examination reforms should rise above political differences.

He stressed that the movement was about protecting students and strengthening the education system.”This is not an issue regarding an individual or any political party. These are issues that are affecting the youth.”

Fadnavis also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Centre had responded sensitively to students’ concerns.

He referred to the government’s proposed legislation aimed at introducing stricter punishment for examination paper leaks, which is expected to be introduced in the Lok Sabha.

Responds to Uddhav Thackeray’s remarks

Fadnavis also reacted to comments made by Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, who had reportedly claimed that the current political contest was one between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the broader idea of Bharat.

Rejecting the Opposition’s criticism, the Chief Minister said similar statements had been made repeatedly over the past decade but had failed to resonate with the public.”Such dialogues have been repeated many times over the past 10 years, but they no longer have any impact on the people.”

‘The nation stands behind PM Modi’

Reiterating his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Fadnavis said the Prime Minister continues to enjoy widespread public backing across the country.

He also referred to a recently shared social media video featuring the Prime Minister, claiming it had achieved record levels of public engagement online.

According to Fadnavis, the response reflected the continued confidence many citizens have in Modi’s leadership.

His remarks come at a time of heightened political activity following developments in the education sector and ongoing discussions over reforms aimed at ensuring greater transparency and accountability in public examinations.
