Ajay Devgn’s ‘Drishyam 2’ did the unthinkable… Recovered its entire budget in just 3 days, earned 586% Profit

When it comes to delivering box office hits, Ajay Devgn has built a reputation few can match. But even by his standards, Drishyam 2 turned out to be a phenomenon.

Released in November 2022, the suspense thriller not only lived up to sky-high expectations but shattered records with its incredible box office run. What makes its success even more remarkable is the speed at which it recovered its budget just three days.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 2 was the much-awaited sequel to the 2015 thriller Drishyam, which had already built a loyal fan base over the years.

The sequel brought back the beloved story of Vijay Salgaonkar, played brilliantly by Ajay Devgn, while also reuniting key cast members like Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta. The addition of Akshaye Khanna added another powerful layer to the intense narrative.

Made on a relatively controlled budget of around Rs 50 crore, the film opened to a solid Rs 18.15 crore on its first day at the Indian box office.

But the real momentum kicked in over the weekend.

The film collected Rs 25.47 crore on day two and an impressive Rs 32 crore on day three, pushing its total beyond its production cost within the opening weekend itself.

That early recovery set the tone for what would become a massive theatrical success.

By the end of its run, Drishyam 2 had earned Rs 239.67 crore in India and a worldwide gross of Rs 343.4 crore, delivering an extraordinary 586 percent profit.

The film also secured the seventh spot among the highest-grossing Indian films of 2022, further cementing its legacy.

A major reason behind its success was the gripping screenplay, unexpected twists, and strong performances that kept audiences hooked till the final scene.

For those who missed its theatrical run, the mystery thriller is still available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is gearing up for his next big release Dhamaal 4, a comedy entertainer featuring Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Riteish Deshmukh, Ravi Kishan, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Esha Gupta. The film is expected to hit theatres on July 10.

After the intense success of Drishyam 2, fans will be eager to see if Ajay can strike gold once again.
