The conversation around Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra may still be fresh, but its expected successor is already beginning to appear in leaks.

Early CAD-based renders of the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra have surfaced online, offering what could be the first glimpse at Samsung’s 2027 flagship smartphone.

The renders suggest Samsung may retain much of the familiar Galaxy Ultra design language while making one immediately noticeable change the arrangement of the rear cameras.

Alongside the design leak, early rumours point towards some serious hardware, including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, up to 16GB RAM, as much as 1TB storage and a potentially larger battery.

There is an important caveat, though: Samsung has not officially confirmed these specifications or the leaked design.

Galaxy S27 Ultra could finally change Samsung’s camera layout

Samsung has used individually arranged camera rings across several generations of its flagship smartphones, making the vertically aligned lenses an instantly recognisable part of modern Galaxy design.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra could shake things up.

CAD renders shared by Android Headlines in collaboration with OnLeaks suggest that Samsung may move away from its familiar standalone vertical camera arrangement.

Instead, multiple rear cameras could become integrated into a more prominent camera module.

The overall phone still looks recognisably like a Galaxy Ultra, meaning Samsung does not appear to be abandoning its flagship identity entirely.

But the rear could look noticeably different.

Does it look like an iPhone?

One of the more interesting comparisons surrounding the leaked design is with Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro series.

The broader arrangement shown in the renders has prompted comparisons with Apple’s recent camera styling, although Samsung’s implementation appears different.

According to the leaked design, one of the cameras appears integrated into a pill-shaped section alongside other rear elements, while the LED flash sits within the broader camera area.

So while there may be some visual similarities, calling it an outright copy based solely on early CAD renders would be premature.

More importantly, these are still unofficial renders. Samsung’s final retail design could differ.

Triple rear cameras tipped

The CAD leak also appears to point towards a triple-camera setup on the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Detailed camera specifications including sensor resolutions, optical zoom levels and sensor sizes remain unclear.

That will be an important area to watch.

Samsung’s Ultra smartphones have traditionally placed a major emphasis on zoom photography and high-resolution cameras, so any move to three rear cameras would raise questions about how the company plans to maintain or improve the versatility expected from its top flagship.

Inside, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumoured to use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.

If accurate, the processor would position the phone among the most powerful Android devices expected in 2027.

The flagship could also offer as much as 16GB of RAM and storage configurations extending up to 1TB.

Such specifications would make sense for an Ultra-class device designed around demanding gaming, photography, video editing, multitasking and Samsung’s expanding collection of Galaxy AI features.

However, Samsung has yet to announce the chipset or memory configurations officially.

6.9-inch AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate?

Another potentially major upgrade concerns the display.

Rumours suggest the Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a 6.9-inch AMOLED panel with an adaptive refresh rate reaching up to 144Hz.

Samsung’s flagship displays are already among the company’s biggest selling points, but moving to 144Hz could provide even smoother gaming, scrolling and interface animations.

Real-world endurance, however, will depend on much more than battery size.

The efficiency of the Snapdragon processor, AMOLED display, software optimisation and AI features will all play important roles in determining how long the device lasts between charges.

When could Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra launch?

Samsung has not announced an official Galaxy S27 Ultra launch date.
