Samsung Could Give Galaxy S25 Users a Surprise Upgrade… Popular Galaxy S26 Camera Feature May Arrive with One UI 9

Seoul/New Delhi: Samsung Electronics could soon enhance the camera experience for existing flagship smartphone users if recent leaks prove to be accurate.

According to information shared by tipsters, Samsung is reportedly testing the Horizontal Lock video stabilization feature—first introduced with the Galaxy S26 series—for the Galaxy S25 lineup through an internal One UI 9 software build.

While Samsung has not officially confirmed the feature’s rollout, its appearance in internal testing has sparked excitement among Galaxy users.

Leak Hints at One UI 9 Upgrade

The latest claim comes from X (formerly Twitter) user Fahad Ali Javed, who reported that an internal One UI 9 build carrying firmware version DZG4 includes the Horizontal Lock option on the Galaxy S25 Plus.

If the feature reaches the stable software update, Galaxy S25 owners could gain access to one of Samsung’s latest video recording improvements without upgrading to a newer smartphone.

However, as this information is based on an internal software build, the final release could differ from the current testing version.

What Is Horizontal Lock?

Horizontal Lock is Samsung’s advanced video stabilization technology designed to keep recorded footage level with the horizon, even if the smartphone is tilted while filming.

Integrated within Samsung’s Super Steady camera mode, the feature combines gyroscope data with intelligent software processing to minimize unwanted movement and produce smoother videos.

The result is footage that appears significantly more stable, closely resembling videos captured using a dedicated camera gimbal.

How Does the Feature Work?

To achieve this level of stabilization, the software performs aggressive image cropping while continuously adjusting the frame based on motion detected by the phone’s sensors.

Reports indicate that the feature currently supports recording at up to 4K resolution at 30 frames per second (fps) and primarily relies on the ultrawide camera, which provides additional room for digital stabilization.

Although users sacrifice a small portion of the frame because of cropping, the trade-off is noticeably smoother video quality.

Could More Galaxy Phones Receive It?

The leak has also fueled speculation that Samsung may eventually expand Horizontal Lock beyond the Galaxy S25 lineup.

At present, there is no official information about whether older flagship models or other Galaxy smartphones will receive the feature.

Samsung has yet to announce the full list of One UI 9 features or compatible devices.
