Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mohsin Khan has opted for the UPT20 League mini-auction after choosing not to continue with Kanpur Superstars through the retention process.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mohsin Khan has taken a bold career decision ahead of the UPT20 League 2026, choosing to enter the mini-auction instead of continuing with Kanpur Superstars through the retention process.

The auction is scheduled to be held in Agra on July 24, where the left-arm pacer is expected to attract significant interest following his impressive performances in recent domestic and IPL cricket.

Pacer Keen to Test His Market Value

Mohsin had been part of the Kanpur Superstars for the last two seasons and was widely expected to be retained once again.

However, the 27-year-old informed the franchise that he wanted to enter the auction and explore new opportunities.

Speaking about his decision, Mohsin said he wanted to “go with the flow” and was excited to test his value in the player auction. He also confirmed that he is now fully fit and ready for the upcoming season.

Strong Comeback After Injury Nightmare

The decision comes after an inspiring comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Following a lengthy injury layoff that kept him away from competitive cricket for nearly 14 to 15 months, Mohsin returned strongly for the Lucknow Super Giants, finishing the season with 11 wickets in seven matches.

His comeback carried emotional significance, as the fast bowler dedicated his return to the memory of his late mother.

He made an immediate impact by taking a wicket in his very first over of the season before establishing himself as one of LSG’s trusted new-ball bowlers.

Outstanding Record in UPT20 League

Before his injury setback, Mohsin was one of the standout performers for Kanpur Superstars in the 2024 UPT20 League.

He played a crucial role in guiding the team to the final, claiming 15 wickets in 11 matches while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 6.94.

His consistent performances made him one of the franchise’s most valuable players, which is why many expected him to remain with the team through retention.

History-Making IPL Achievement

Apart from his wicket-taking ability, Mohsin also created a unique record during the IPL 2026 season.

In April 2026, he became the first bowler in Lucknow Super Giants’ history to deliver three maiden overs in a single IPL season, underlining his effectiveness with the new ball.

The achievement further strengthened his reputation as one of the most disciplined left-arm seamers in domestic cricket.

Auction Set to Attract Attention

With his fitness restored and confidence back after a successful IPL campaign, Mohsin Khan is expected to be one of the most sought-after names in the UPT20 League mini-auction.

Whether he returns to Kanpur Superstars or joins a new franchise, his decision to enter the auction has already become one of the biggest talking points ahead of the tournament.
