Chennai: Mamitha Baiju entered Jana Nayagan with high expectations, believing that sharing screen space with Vijay in his final film as an actor would mark a significant milestone in her career. However, despite the film attracting attention due to Vijay’s farewell from cinema, it failed to deliver the impact many had anticipated.

While Jana Nayagan reportedly earned a respectable worldwide box office collection, the film received a mixed response from audiences and critics. Many felt it did not live up to the enormous expectations surrounding Vijay’s final big-screen appearance before his full-time political journey.

Role Failed to Leave an Impression

For Mamitha Baiju, the film proved to be an underwhelming experience. She portrayed Vijay’s daughter, but her character drew criticism for its limited depth and weak development.

Several viewers compared her role with Sreeleela’s performance in the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, on which Jana Nayagan is reportedly based. Many believed that the Tamil adaptation did not offer Mamitha’s character the same emotional weight or narrative importance.

As a result, criticism was directed not only at the writing but also at the overall execution of the character, with many observers feeling the actress was not given enough scope to showcase her talent.

Hopes Rest on ‘Vishwanath & Sons’

Despite the setback, Mamitha Baiju is now looking ahead to her next major Tamil project, Vishwanath & Sons, starring Suriya.

Unlike her previous film, where she played Vijay’s daughter, the upcoming project reportedly casts her in a romantic role opposite Suriya, with the story said to revolve around an age-gap love story. The role is expected to offer the actress significantly more screen space and emotional depth.

Industry watchers believe the film could provide Mamitha with the opportunity to establish herself in Tamil cinema if her performance resonates with audiences.

Buzz Builds Ahead of Release

Scheduled to release on August 14, Vishwanath & Sons has already generated considerable excitement among moviegoers. Expectations are high not only because of Suriya’s presence but also due to growing curiosity surrounding the film’s storyline and performances.

For Mamitha Baiju, the film represents more than just another release—it could become the project that reshapes her journey in the Tamil film industry.

Whether Vishwanath & Sons succeeds in giving the actress the breakthrough she has been waiting for will ultimately depend on how audiences respond once the film arrives in theatres.
