New Delhi: Mahindra is gearing up to expand its SUV portfolio with the much-anticipated Vision S, a compact off-road-focused SUV that has already generated significant buzz among automobile enthusiasts. First unveiled as a concept during the company’s Freedom NU event in August 2025, the upcoming model has been spotted testing several times on Indian roads. The latest spy shots have now revealed the interior of the prototype for the first time, offering new insights into what buyers can expect.

Often referred to as the “Baby Scorpio”, the Mahindra Vision S is expected to combine rugged styling with modern technology, positioning itself as an attractive option in the compact SUV segment.

Cabin Design Takes Inspiration from Mahindra’s Popular SUVs

The newly surfaced spy images suggest that the Vision S shares several design elements with the Mahindra Thar Roxx and Scorpio N. One of the most notable observations is the presence of a BE 6-inspired steering wheel, indicating that the test vehicle could be the electric version of the Vision S.

The prototype features a high-mounted dashboard with a large square-shaped touchscreen infotainment display, which is expected to measure around 12.3 inches. Vertical air-conditioning vents and a familiar dashboard layout further reinforce its connection with Mahindra’s latest SUV lineup.

The overall cabin appears to blend practicality with a premium touch, offering a modern driving experience while retaining the rugged appeal expected from the brand.

Expected Features

Reports suggest the production-ready Vision S could be equipped with a host of premium and convenience-focused features, including:

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Three-spoke steering wheel
  • Dual-tone interior theme
  • Ventilated and heated seats
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Drive mode selector
  • Traction Control System
  • 360-degree parking assistance (expected)

A radar sensor spotted in the lower grille of the test vehicle further hints that the SUV may offer ADAS features, enhancing safety and driving assistance.

Rugged Exterior with Strong SUV Character

The Mahindra Vision S is expected to feature a bold and muscular appearance inspired by larger off-road SUVs. Spy images reveal a boxy silhouette, upright front fascia, and a flat bonnet, giving the vehicle a commanding road presence.

Other expected exterior highlights include:

  • Round LED headlamps with circular LED DRLs
  • Vertical slat-style front grille
  • Rectangular fog lamp housings
  • Flush-fitting door handles
  • Pronounced polygonal wheel arches
  • Large alloy wheels
  • Flat roofline
  • Vertical rectangular LED tail-lamps
  • Rear-mounted spare wheel

These design elements are expected to strengthen the Vision S’s identity as a compact SUV with genuine off-road styling.

Expected Engine Options

While Mahindra has not officially revealed the powertrain specifications, industry reports indicate that the Vision S could be offered with multiple engine choices.

The expected lineup includes a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual gearbox, 6-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT), and an automated manual transmission (AMT), depending on the variant.

The presence of the BE 6 steering wheel in the test mule has also fuelled speculation that an electric version could be introduced alongside or after the internal combustion engine models.

Expected Launch Timeline

Although Mahindra has yet to announce an official launch date, the increasing frequency of test sightings suggests that the Vision S could make its debut in August. More official details regarding its specifications, pricing, and variant lineup are expected closer to launch.

With its rugged styling, premium feature list, and multiple powertrain possibilities, the Mahindra Vision S is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly awaited SUV launches in India.
