Jana Nayagan is closing in on the Rs 200-crore India net milestone as Vijay’s final film before his full-time political journey.

Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is entering the final stretch of its theatrical run, but the action thriller still has one major box-office milestone left to chase.

The film has slowed considerably during its third week, as expected, yet it continues to bring in steady collections. According to Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan earned an estimated Rs 86 lakh net in India on Day 24, taking its total India net collection to approximately Rs 196.15 crore.

The film’s India gross collection currently stands at around Rs 227.64 crore.

More importantly, Jana Nayagan has also maintained a strong overseas presence. Its international gross collection has reached approximately Rs 93.20 crore, taking the film’s worldwide gross total to around Rs 320.84 crore.

Jana Nayagan needs Rs 3.85 crore for Rs 200 crore

The big question now is straightforward: Can Jana Nayagan cross Rs 200 crore net in India before its theatrical journey comes to an end?

Based on its current total, the film needs roughly Rs 3.85 crore more to achieve the milestone.

That target is still within reach, although the declining weekday collections mean the film will need to maintain momentum over its remaining shows.

The film recorded an estimated Rs 27 lakh on Friday before jumping to around Rs 86 lakh on Saturday. The weekend improvement has provided some encouragement as the movie heads towards the closing phase of its run.

From a massive opening to a slower third week

Jana Nayagan began its theatrical journey with a strong opening.

The film reportedly collected Rs 42.70 crore net on Day 1, followed by Rs 21.15 crore on Day 2 and Rs 28.90 crore on Day 3.

Its first week ended with an impressive Rs 153.55 crore India net collection.

The momentum naturally slowed during the second week, with the film adding approximately Rs 31.60 crore.

The third week has been considerably quieter, contributing around Rs 9.87 crore so far.

Nevertheless, the film has continued to benefit from occasional weekend jumps, allowing it to keep moving towards the Rs 200-crore benchmark.

Vijay’s final film before full-time politics

Jana Nayagan carries significance beyond its box-office numbers because it is being positioned as Vijay’s final film before he moves into full-time politics.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film reportedly carries a massive production budget estimated between Rs 300 crore and Rs 500 crore, making its overall theatrical performance particularly important.

Vijay plays Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, a former police officer who finds himself confronting a powerful adversary before emerging as a leader fighting corruption and standing up for ordinary people.

The political undertones have naturally added to the curiosity surrounding the film, particularly given Vijay’s real-life political ambitions.

Star-studded cast adds to the film’s appeal

Apart from Vijay, Jana Nayagan features a prominent ensemble cast.

The film stars Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Reba Monica John in key roles.

The music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, adding another major name to the project.

The combination of Vijay’s star power, Vinoth’s direction and the film’s political-action premise helped generate significant anticipation before release.

What happens next at the box office?

The Rs 200-crore India net mark is now the immediate target.

With around Rs 3.85 crore still required, Jana Nayagan needs to maintain reasonable collections during its remaining theatrical days.

The milestone would give the film another notable achievement during what is already a significant release in Vijay’s career.

However, the bigger story may eventually move beyond the box office.

With Vijay preparing to focus on politics, Jana Nayagan represents the closing chapter of his current journey as a full-time commercial film star.

And as the theatrical run approaches its finish line, audiences will now be watching two numbers closely Rs 200 crore in India and Rs 320 crore-plus worldwide.

The final few days will reveal whether Jana Nayagan manages to add one more major milestone to Vijay’s filmography before the actor turns the page towards politics.
