Israel blows up Hezbollah’s hidden tunnel in Lebanon, says weapons stockpile was meant for attack ceasefire under fresh threat
Benjamin Netanyahu says the underground Hezbollah complex contained hundreds of weapons, as tensions rise over a fragile US-brokered truce.
informed in advance about the operation, along with Washington’s representative in Lebanon, signaling close coordination over the strike.
The operation came just hours after Israeli troops reportedly targeted Hezbollah militants carrying rocket-propelled grenades and struck a rocket launcher in the Nabatieh region of southern Lebanon.
However, Hezbollah strongly condemned the strikes, calling them a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire agreement that had been holding — albeit shakily — since earlier this year.
In a statement, the group said it was closely monitoring the attacks and reserved its right to defend Lebanon and its people.
Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem also rejected the recent US-brokered security arrangement between Israel and Lebanon, calling it nothing less than a surrender to Israeli demands.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, a key Hezbollah ally and head of the Amal Movement, also slammed the agreement, calling it “impossible to implement” and warning it could deepen internal divisions within Lebanon.

The controversial deal, reached just two days ago, outlined a phased Israeli withdrawal from parts of southern Lebanon, alongside deployment of the Lebanese army, while still allowing Israeli troops to remain in an expanded security zone.
With both sides accusing each other of violations and political leaders openly challenging the framework, the latest strike has once again exposed how fragile peace remains along one of the Middle East’s most volatile borders.
As tensions rise, fears are growing that even a small escalation could spiral into a much larger regional conflict.
