Dhruv Vikram opens up about personal-life scrutiny, saying the experience taught him to become an “army of one” while staying grounded and close to the people he loves.

Actor Dhruv Vikram has opened up about the challenges of living under constant public scrutiny, admitting that attention surrounding his personal life has affected him despite his understanding that it comes with being an actor.

The 30-year-old actor was speaking at the India Today Tamil Nadu Roundtable in Chennai, where he reflected on how fame has changed the way he approaches his private life and relationships.

For Dhruv, the answer has been to stay grounded, maintain a close circle and, as he put it, gradually become an “army of one.”

‘Scrutiny can possibly be part of the territory’

Dhruv acknowledged that actors understand from the beginning that public attention is part of the profession.

“When you sign up for this line of work, you understand very early that scrutiny can possibly be part of the territory,” he said.

The actor added that while the profession can be beautiful, it also comes with several difficult aspects that performers eventually have to learn to accept.

However, Dhruv was candid about the fact that scrutiny over his personal life has not simply passed him by.“To be honest, I cannot say it hasn’t affected me.”

Rather than attempting to completely escape the attention, he said the key is knowing who you are and what you stand for.

Dhruv Vikram says staying grounded is important

According to Dhruv, maintaining a connection with reality has helped him deal with the noise surrounding his life.

He said it is important to know what you stand for and to fiercely protect the people you love.

“When you’re aligned with the truth and know what anchors you, scrutiny can only go so far,” the actor said.

His comments reflect the increasingly complicated relationship between celebrities and public attention, particularly at a time when social media can turn speculation about an actor’s personal life into a constant conversation.

For Dhruv, however, having a strong sense of identity appears to have become a form of protection.

‘You learn to be an army of one’

Dhruv also credited the small group of people who have remained close to him throughout his journey.

He explained that, over time, he has learned to build his own world, do the necessary inner work and stay surrounded by people he genuinely trusts.“Subconsciously, you learn to be an army of one, where you have your own world and do the inner work.”

The actor said he tries to protect himself within a bubble alongside the people he loves, while acknowledging that the support he has received has played a major role in helping him navigate difficult periods.

It is a particularly personal insight from an actor whose career has been closely watched since his debut.

How Bison kept Dhruv focused

Dhruv also recalled how his work on Bison gave him something positive to focus on during a period when audiences were eagerly waiting for his next film.

The actor said he stayed away from social media for years while working on the project.

Despite repeatedly receiving messages from fans asking when his next film would arrive, Dhruv chose to remain focused on preparation and the physical demands of the role.

“When you’re on the ground, prepping and your skin is tearing, I automatically thought of the people who would celebrate this one day on screen and hopefully feel proud. That drives you,” he recalled.

For him, the anticipation of audiences who had been waiting for his work became a source of motivation rather than pressure.

Dhruv Vikram’s Bison journey

Dhruv was last seen in Bison, directed by filmmaker Mari Selvaraj.

The actor played a young kabaddi player in the film, marking his first collaboration with the acclaimed filmmaker.

The project also featured Anupama Parameswaran, Pasupathy and Lal in important roles.

Bison required Dhruv to undergo significant preparation for his role, particularly because the story revolves around kabaddi and the journey of a young athlete.

His comments about staying away from social media during the making of the film also offer an insight into how seriously he approached the project.

Fame, privacy and finding his own balance

Dhruv’s latest comments suggest that dealing with fame has become less about avoiding scrutiny and more about controlling how much of it reaches his inner world.

For an actor, public opinion can shift rapidly, while speculation about personal relationships and private choices can often overshadow professional work.

Dhruv appears to have chosen a different approach keeping his circle small, remaining connected to the people he trusts and focusing on the work itself.

His description of becoming an “army of one” is perhaps the clearest reflection of that mindset.

As his career continues to grow, the actor seems determined to let his performances speak louder than the conversations surrounding his private life.
