Behind Shreya Ghoshal’s extraordinary career as one of India’s most celebrated playback singers is a relationship that she describes as remarkably grounded.

The singer recently opened up about her husband Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya, revealing that despite his demanding corporate career and reported multimillion-rupee fortune, he remains deeply involved in managing their home right down to washing his own dishes and cleaning the kitchen.

During a conversation shared on Hauterrfly’s YouTube channel, Shreya spoke candidly about how the couple approaches marriage, careers and household responsibilities.

“I got lucky, I got this guy,” she said while praising her husband.

‘He Takes Care of the Whole House’

Shreya revealed that Shiladitya doesn’t consider household work someone else’s responsibility. Instead, he actively takes care of their home.

According to the singer, her husband will wash his own dishes and clean the kitchen — and may even get upset if she tries to do it for him.

The couple both have demanding professional schedules, but that has not stopped them from sharing domestic responsibilities.

Shreya explained that because they both work rigorous hours, household chores are something they handle together rather than leaving the responsibility entirely to one partner.

It is this seemingly ordinary side of their relationship that stands in contrast with their high-profile professional lives.

Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya’s Reported Net Worth

Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya has built an extensive career in the technology and business world.

According to his professional profile, he has served as Global Head of Truecaller for Business since 2022. He previously worked with customer engagement platform CleverTap and has also been involved in entrepreneurship.

He co-founded food and beverage technology platform Hipcask and was also a co-founder of payment platform Pointshelf.

His net worth has been estimated by Planify at between Rs 500 crore and Rs 700 crore as of 2025. Such estimates, however, are based on publicly available financial and investment information and should not be treated as an officially confirmed figure from Shiladitya himself.

‘He Has Never Demanded, Why Are You Not Here?’

For Shreya, one of the most important qualities in their relationship has been her husband’s understanding of her career.

Being one of India’s busiest singers means concerts, recordings and professional commitments can keep her away from home for extended periods.

Shreya revealed that there have been occasions when she has been away for months, but Shiladitya has never made her feel guilty about it.

She said that even during their dating years, he remained secure about their relationship and understood the demands of her profession.

“He does not have ego hassles, and neither do I,” Shreya said, describing the mutual understanding that has helped their relationship endure through years of demanding careers.

‘We Have Very Few Debates’

Shreya also offered a light-hearted glimpse into how disagreements work in their household.

While describing both their families as opinionated and capable of discussing even the smallest household matters in detail, she said she and Shiladitya themselves rarely have heated arguments.

“We are both very quiet so we have very few debates,” she said, joking that they might be the only Bengali couple without heated discussions.

Today, however, there is one subject that dominates most of their conversations their son, Devyaan.

Shreya said their child is currently the “centre of our world”, with much of the couple’s attention and conversations revolving around him.

A 10-Year Romance Before Marriage

Shreya Ghoshal and Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya married in 2015, but their relationship had already been years in the making.

The two reportedly dated for around 10 years before deciding to tie the knot.

Shreya previously recalled that Shiladitya proposed while they were attending a friend’s wedding in Goa.

She described the proposal as “cute, funny and intimate”, revealing that he had carefully prepared everything and even secretly figured out her ring size.

When it was finally time to bring out the ring, Shiladitya apparently distracted her by suddenly pointing elsewhere and saying “Squirrel”.

While Shreya looked around, he prepared for the proposal before eventually going down on one knee creating a memory she still fondly recalls years later.
