How Much BCCI Pension Will Ajinkya Rahane Get After Retirement? Monthly Amount Revealed After India Exit
Following his retirement from international cricket, Ajinkya Rahane will become eligible for the BCCI’s enhanced pension scheme, joining an elite group of former Indian Test cricketers.
Former India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has officially brought the curtains down on his international cricket career, ending a memorable 15-year journey in Indian colours. The stylish right-handed batter’s retirement also marks the end of an era that featured some of India’s most dependable Test cricketers, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Cheteshwar Pujara.
As fans celebrate Rahane’s contribution to Indian cricket, many are also curious about the financial benefits he will receive after stepping away from international action.
How Much Pension Will Ajinkya Rahane Receive?
Under the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pension scheme, Ajinkya Rahane will receive a monthly pension of ₹70,000.
The pension is available to former Indian cricketers based on their international career. Since Rahane has played 85 Test matches, he falls into the highest category of the scheme, making him eligible for the enhanced monthly pension.
The BCCI had revised its pension policy in 2022, increasing the amount for former cricketers. Before the revision, players in the same category received ₹50,000 per month.
A Career Defined by Calm Leadership
Although Rahane may not have enjoyed the same spotlight as some of his illustrious teammates, he built a reputation as one of India’s most reliable performers in the longest format of the game.
His finest moment came during India’s historic 2020-21 Test tour of Australia, where he took over the captaincy after Virat Kohli returned home following the first Test.
Following India’s infamous 36 all out in Adelaide, Rahane inspired an extraordinary turnaround. Under his leadership, an injury-hit Indian side defeated Australia 2-1 to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a series widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements in Indian cricket history.

A Legacy Beyond Statistics

While Rahane’s numbers speak for themselves, his greatest contribution arguably lies in the calmness he brought to the dressing room and his ability to deliver under pressure.
From rescuing India in overseas conditions to leading one of the country’s most memorable Test triumphs, Rahane leaves behind a legacy built on resilience, humility and quiet determination.
Even after retiring from international cricket, the Mumbai batter is expected to remain active in domestic and franchise cricket, while the BCCI pension recognises his long-standing service to Indian cricket.
