Yogi Adityanath’s big jobs promise for UP: ‘Note it down…’ 1 lakh appointment letters in next six months

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday, August 25, made a major employment announcement, promising that one lakh young people will receive government appointment letters across the state over the next six months.

Addressing an appointment-letter distribution programme in Lucknow, Adityanath asked the state’s youth to “note” the six-month timeline and said appointment letters would be handed out in different phases every week.

The announcement is significant at a time when government recruitment, competitive examinations and employment opportunities remain closely watched issues in Uttar Pradesh.

‘Note it down’: Yogi promises 1 lakh appointment letters

Adityanath said the government intends to keep the recruitment process moving continuously rather than waiting for a single large-scale distribution exercise.

“I am assuring the youth across the state” that appointment letters will be provided to one lakh young people within the next six months, he said, adding that the letters would be distributed at different stages on a weekly basis.

Reports also said that examinations for several recruitments have already been completed and the result process is underway, with recruitment bodies being asked to further shorten timelines.

3,572 candidates receive appointment letters in Lucknow

The chief minister made the announcement during a Mission Rozgar programme at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, where appointment letters were distributed to newly selected candidates in the Agriculture Department and Uttar Pradesh State Agricultural Produce Market Board.

A total of 3,572 candidates were covered — 3,446 Technical Assistants (Group C) in the Agriculture Department and 126 Mandi Secretaries.

Adityanath congratulated the newly appointed employees and urged them to perform their responsibilities with commitment.

Yogi claims over 9.30 lakh government jobs since 2017

Using the occasion to highlight his administration’s recruitment record, the chief minister said more than 9.30 lakh young people have received government jobs in Uttar Pradesh since his government came to power in 2017.

He argued that these recruitments had been conducted through a transparent and non-discriminatory process, claiming that no questions could be raised over even a single appointment.

The chief minister contrasted this with the recruitment environment before 2017, alleging that vacancies were frequently affected by corruption, delays and political interference.

According to Adityanath, young candidates were not lacking in talent or merit; the real problem, he argued, was corruption within parts of the recruitment system.

UP government vows action against examination cheating networks

The chief minister also linked recruitment reforms with his administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime and corruption.

Adityanath said the government would continue taking strict action against organised groups involved in recruitment examination cheating and malpractice.

His remarks come as the credibility and speed of competitive recruitment processes remain important concerns for lakhs of young candidates preparing for government jobs in the state.

For the government, the new six-month target will therefore be judged not only by the number of appointment letters distributed but also by whether recruitment exercises are completed on schedule and without controversy.

Yogi addresses sugar shortage concerns

Employment was not the only issue Adityanath addressed during the programme.

Amid concerns over sugar prices and availability, the chief minister said Uttar Pradesh has no shortage of sugar.

According to Adityanath, the state currently has approximately 28 lakh tonnes of sugar in stock, while monthly consumption stands at about four lakh tonnes. On that calculation, the existing stock would be sufficient for around seven months.

He added that sugar mills are expected to resume operations from October 15, after which the state is projected to produce another 90 lakh tonnes of sugar.

The chief minister argued that Uttar Pradesh has sufficient production capacity not only to meet its own requirements but also to contribute significantly to the country’s wider sugar supply.

The comments come amid a broader debate over rising sugar prices. The Union government recently said adequate stocks were available nationally to meet domestic demand and that authorities were monitoring the situation.

Jobs remain at the heart of UP’s political conversation

The announcement of one lakh appointment letters within six months puts a clear and measurable deadline on the Uttar Pradesh government’s recruitment push.
