Pratika Rawal has been ruled out of India's one-off Women's Test against England at Lord's after suffering a knee injury during the ODI series.

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team has suffered a significant setback ahead of its much-awaited one-off Test against England, with promising batter Pratika Rawal officially ruled out due to a knee injury.

The prestigious red-ball contest is scheduled to begin on July 10 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, where India and England will battle in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the women’s cricket calendar.

However, just a day before the match, India’s preparations have been disrupted by the loss of one of their rising batting stars.

How Did Pratika Rawal Get Injured?

Rawal sustained the injury during the second Women’s ODI against England, where she suffered a cut on her knee while fielding.

The injury was serious enough to keep her out of the third and final ODI, and despite medical assessments and hopes of a quick recovery, she has now been declared unavailable for the Lord’s Test.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also confirmed that a replacement has been drafted into the squad for the one-off Test.

Another Injury Setback for the Young Batter

The latest injury adds to a difficult run for Pratika Rawal, who has endured several fitness setbacks over the past year.

She previously missed both the Women’s ODI World Cup semifinal and final because of injury and was also unavailable for the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

After recovering, Rawal returned to competitive cricket during India’s ODI tour of Australia, where she gradually worked her way back into the national team.

Earlier this year, she fulfilled a major career milestone by making her Test debut against Australia at the WACA Ground, making her absence from the Lord’s Test even more disappointing.

India Forced to Reshuffle Batting Plans

Rawal’s withdrawal leaves India with one fewer batting option heading into a crucial overseas Test.

The team management will now rely on the replacement player to strengthen the batting unit as India aims to challenge a strong England Women’s Team in English conditions.

With experienced campaigners and young talents in both squads, the match is expected to provide high-quality cricket despite India’s late injury concern.

All Eyes on the Historic Lord’s Encounter

The one-off Test at Lord’s, often called the ‘Home of Cricket’, carries enormous significance for both teams.

For India, the objective remains unchanged despite the setback—deliver a strong performance in one of the most iconic venues in world cricket.

While Pratika Rawal’s absence is undoubtedly a blow, it also presents another opportunity for a fresh face to step up on one of the biggest stages in women’s cricket.
