India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi has come under intense scrutiny following his disappointing performance in the second T20I against England, where three no-balls and an expensive spell played a significant role in India’s defeat.

The 24-year-old returned to India’s T20I squad after nearly six months, hoping to make a strong impression. Instead, the match turned into one of his toughest outings in recent memory, raising questions about his form and bowling rhythm.

An Expensive Spell Changed the Match

Bishnoi endured a difficult evening with the ball, conceding 60 runs in his four-over spell. The turning point came during the 17th over, when England batters attacked relentlessly, scoring 29 runs and completely shifting the momentum in their favour.

The costly spell, combined with three no-balls, proved crucial as England went on to secure a dramatic victory.

Following the defeat, the Indian team management left Bishnoi out of the playing XI for the third T20I, further highlighting concerns over his recent performances.

Childhood Coach Explains the Real Issue

Amid growing criticism, Ravi Bishnoi’s childhood coach, Shahrukh Khan, has offered an explanation for the recurring no-ball problem.

According to the coach, the issue is not simply about overstepping the crease. Instead, it stems from technical changes that have altered Bishnoi’s bowling mechanics.

He revealed that the leg-spinner’s run-up, bowling action, and release point have all undergone noticeable changes compared to his earlier style.

These adjustments have affected his rhythm, making it difficult for him to consistently land deliveries within the legal limit.

‘He Listens, But Execution Is the Challenge’

The coach also pointed out that Bishnoi has been receptive to feedback and understands the areas that require improvement. However, implementing those corrections consistently during competitive matches has proven to be the biggest challenge.

According to him, while the spinner is working hard to adapt to the technical changes, they have not yet become natural enough to produce consistent results under pressure.

That inconsistency has led to repeated no-balls and fluctuating performances at the highest level.

A Crucial Phase in Bishnoi’s Career

The England series comes after a relatively underwhelming IPL 2026 campaign, making the national team’s return even more important for Bishnoi.

With fierce competition among India’s spin bowlers, the youngster will now be eager to address the technical flaws and regain the confidence of the selectors.

His talent has never been in doubt, but correcting these bowling issues quickly could determine how soon he re-establishes himself as a regular in India’s T20 setup.

For now, all eyes will be on whether Ravi Bishnoi can turn this difficult phase into a successful comeback.
