England’s legendary batter Tammy Beaumont has announced that she will retire from international cricket after the historic one-off Women’s Test against India at Lord’s Cricket Ground, beginning on July 10.

The 35-year-old will conclude a glittering 17-year international career, during which she established herself as one of England Women’s greatest batters and one of the most influential figures in modern women’s cricket.

Her farewell at Lord’s carries special significance, as it will be the first-ever Women’s Test played at the iconic venue, making the occasion even more memorable.

A Career Filled With Records and Milestones

Throughout her international journey, Tammy Beaumont consistently delivered match-winning performances across all three formats.

She retires as England Women’s highest century-maker in One-Day Internationals, scoring 12 ODI centuries, and is one of only two England women cricketers to register international centuries in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

Her international numbers reflect an outstanding career:

  • Tests: 612 runs in 11 matches, including a highest score of 208
  • ODIs: 4,738 runs in 140 matches, featuring 12 centuries and 24 half-centuries
  • T20Is: 1,975 runs in 109 matches, including one century and 11 fifties

These achievements firmly place Beaumont among England’s finest batters of all time.

From World Cup Hero to Test Record Holder

One of the defining moments of Beaumont’s career came during the 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, where she played a starring role in England’s title-winning campaign.

She finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 410 runs and was deservedly named the Player of the Tournament, helping England lift the trophy on home soil.

Another historic milestone arrived in 2023, when Beaumont became the first England woman to score a Test double-century, smashing 208 against Australia at Trent Bridge and breaking an England record that had stood for 88 years.

‘The Perfect Occasion to Sign Off’

Reflecting on her retirement, Beaumont described representing England as the greatest honour of her life.

She expressed pride in witnessing the rapid growth of women’s cricket and said she hopes the next generation will continue taking the game to greater heights.

Calling the Lord’s Test “the perfect occasion to sign off,” Beaumont admitted that she could never have imagined enjoying such a successful and fulfilling international career when she first fell in love with cricket as a young girl.

England Cricket Pays Tribute

England Women’s Managing Director Clare Connor paid tribute to Beaumont’s immense contribution, describing her as a player who always put the team first.

Connor praised Beaumont’s professionalism, commitment and passion for the sport, noting that she began her England career during an era when many women cricketers still played as amateurs before the introduction of central contracts.

According to Connor, Beaumont’s impact extends far beyond statistics, inspiring countless young cricketers while helping transform women’s cricket in England.

A Legacy That Will Inspire Generations

As Tammy Beaumont prepares for one final appearance in England colours, she leaves behind an extraordinary legacy built on consistency, resilience and excellence.

From becoming a World Cup champion to rewriting England’s batting records, Beaumont has played a pivotal role in shaping the modern era of women’s cricket.

Her farewell at the historic Lord’s Test against India promises to be an emotional celebration of one of England’s greatest cricketing careers.
