Shubman Gill, Mossadek Hossain and Nathan Smith have been nominated for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for June 2026.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the nominees for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for June 2026, with India captain Shubman Gill, Bangladesh all-rounder Mossadek Hossain, and New Zealand fast bowler Nathan Smith earning a place on the prestigious shortlist.

All three players delivered outstanding performances during the month, playing decisive roles in major series victories for their respective teams across international cricket.

Shubman Gill Continues Dream Run

India skipper Shubman Gill enjoyed another exceptional month with the bat, producing match-winning performances in both Test and One-Day International (ODI) cricket.

Gill began June by scoring a brilliant 126 in India’s dominant one-off Test victory over Afghanistan, registering the 11th Test century of his career. His composed innings featured 15 boundaries and one six, laying the foundation for India’s comprehensive win.

The right-handed batter carried his superb form into the ODI series, where he amassed 238 runs in just two innings. He opened the series with a fluent 84 off 66 deliveries before producing a spectacular 154 from 110 balls in Lucknow.

Despite suffering cramps during his innings, Gill accelerated brilliantly in the closing overs to guide India to victory. His outstanding performances earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.

Mossadek Hossain Marks Stunning Comeback

Mossadek Hossain enjoyed a dream return to international cricket after a lengthy absence, helping Bangladesh script a historic 2-1 ODI series victory over Australia.

Playing his first international match since November 2022, the all-rounder announced his comeback in style with an unbeaten 86, two wickets, and a stunning running catch during Bangladesh’s memorable 86-run victory.

Mossadek finished the series as Bangladesh’s highest run-scorer with 157 runs, including two half-centuries, and deservedly received the Player of the Series award for his all-round brilliance.

Nathan Smith Leads New Zealand’s Historic Triumph

His most memorable performance came in the opening Test at Lord’s, where he followed up three first-innings wickets with a magnificent 6/70 in the second innings. Although New Zealand lost the opening match, Smith continued to impress as the visitors bounced back to win the final two Tests and secure a famous series victory.

His exceptional consistency earned him the Player of the Series award and a nomination for the ICC’s monthly honour.

Who Will Take Home the Award?

The June shortlist reflects a diverse range of performances across formats, with Gill dominating with the bat, Mossadek making a sensational comeback through all-round excellence, and Smith spearheading New Zealand’s pace attack in challenging conditions.

The winner of the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award will be decided through a combination of votes from fans and an expert panel, with the announcement expected later this month.
