Hardik Pandya Out of MI? Franchise Eyes ‘Next Rohit’ in Yashasvi Jaiswal, Trade Talks Spark IPL Earthquake

Hardik Pandya might be on his way out of Mumbai Indians, with the franchise reportedly setting its sights on rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal.

According to an explosive report, Mumbai’s management has already begun exploring trade possibilities, following a deeply disappointing IPL 2026 campaign that saw the five-time champions finish a shocking ninth.

What once seemed unthinkable is now a real possibility — a captaincy shake-up at one of IPL’s most successful franchises.

A Season to Forget for Hardik Pandya

The scrutiny around Hardik Pandya intensified after his underwhelming performances throughout the season. Leading a star-studded lineup, expectations were sky-high — but results told a different story.

Finishing ninth was not just a setback — it triggered serious internal review discussions within the MI camp.

Senior management is now set to hold a crucial meeting to decide the future of key players, including Pandya.

Trade Talks: Jaiswal in, Pandya Out?

In a stunning development, representatives linked to Pandya have reportedly initiated preliminary discussions with Rajasthan Royals.

Mumbai Indians see Yashasvi Jaiswal as:

• A long-term investment
• A potential successor to Rohit Sharma
• A player capable of anchoring the team’s future

At just a young age, Jaiswal has already proven he belongs on the biggest stage — making him MI’s top target.

The shake-up might not stop with Pandya.

• Suryakumar Yadav could also be traded
• Youngster Tilak Varma is emerging as a strong captaincy candidate

This signals a potential transition phase — from experienced stars to a younger core.

Injury Blow Adds to Pandya’s Troubles

Away from franchise cricket, Pandya’s struggles have continued on the international front.

The all-rounder has been ruled out of India’s ODI series against Afghanistan due to a serious quadriceps strain, sustained during fitness assessments.

A source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed:

“With three weeks needed for recovery, there is absolutely no chance of him playing the ODI series.”

Injuries combined with poor form have only strengthened doubts about his immediate future.

Final Word

The coming weeks could redefine the structure of the Mumbai Indians squad.

Will the franchise back its current captain — or make a bold call to rebuild around fresh talent?

One thing is certain:
If this trade happens, it won’t just shake Mumbai Indians — it will send shockwaves across the entire IPL.
