Dulquer Salmaan to face fresh customs questioning? Luxury car smuggling probe takes new turn After 7-Hour interrogation

Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan is once again under the scanner as the Customs Preventive Department intensifies its investigation into an alleged luxury car smuggling racket involving vehicles reportedly brought into India through the Bhutan border.

The actor, who has consistently maintained that he legally purchased all the vehicles under scrutiny, is expected to be summoned for another round of questioning as officials continue to examine evidence gathered during the ongoing investigation.

Fresh Summons Likely After Seven-Hour Interrogation

According to reports, Customs officials are preparing to question Dulquer Salmaan once again after carefully reviewing the statements he provided during an earlier interrogation that reportedly lasted for more than seven hours.

Investigators have also sought additional documents related to the luxury vehicles linked to the case. The fresh questioning is part of the routine investigative process as authorities attempt to verify documents and establish the complete chain of ownership.

So far, the Customs Department has not accused the actor of any wrongdoing, and no charges have been announced against him. The matter remains under investigation.

What Is ‘Operation Numkhor’?

The probe forms part of Operation Numkhor, a special investigation launched by the Customs Preventive Department to uncover an alleged network involved in illegally importing high-end luxury vehicles from Bhutan into India using forged documents and tax evasion methods.

Authorities are investigating whether luxury vehicles were brought into the country without following legal import procedures, resulting in significant revenue losses.

Luxury Vehicles Seized, Later Released

During the course of the investigation, Customs officials seized four luxury vehicles reportedly linked to Dulquer Salmaan. These included a Land Rover Defender, a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Nissan Patrol, and another Nissan vehicle that was reportedly featured in one of the actor’s films.

The vehicles were subsequently released following a court order after the actor furnished a substantial bank guarantee.

The court also directed that the vehicles must be produced whenever required by investigators and cannot be taken outside the state without prior approval from the authorities.

Actor Denies Any Irregularities

Throughout the investigation, Dulquer Salmaan has maintained that he had no knowledge of any alleged illegalities concerning the vehicles.

According to reports, the actor informed investigators that all the luxury cars were purchased from previous owners within India through legitimate banking transactions and with valid ownership documents.

He has consistently stated that he followed all legal procedures while acquiring the vehicles.

Probe Spans Multiple States

Officials say the wider Operation Numkhor investigation extends beyond Kerala and is examining an alleged network operating across Kerala, Assam, and Rajasthan.

Investigators are attempting to determine whether forged documentation was used to facilitate the illegal import and registration of luxury vehicles while avoiding applicable taxes.

As of now, the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released any final findings. The Customs Department has also not made any allegation of criminal wrongdoing against Dulquer Salmaan, with the actor’s involvement currently limited to the investigative process.
