Apple’s Next iPad Mini Could Get Its Biggest Upgrade Yet… OLED Display May Finally Arrive
A new report suggests Apple is preparing a refreshed iPad mini with an OLED display, alongside updated iPads and new Apple Pencil models expected over the next year.
Cupertino/New Delhi: Apple Inc. appears to be gearing up for another major hardware refresh, with reports indicating that the company is working on a next-generation iPad mini featuring an OLED display for the first time.
According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the upcoming compact tablet is expected to be one of Apple’s biggest iPad mini upgrades in years, even though its overall design is likely to remain largely unchanged.
If the report proves accurate, the new iPad mini will become the first non-Pro iPad to feature OLED display technology, bringing richer colours, deeper blacks, improved contrast and better power efficiency to Apple’s smallest tablet.
OLED Display Headlines the Upgrade
The upcoming iPad mini, reportedly carrying the internal codename J510, is expected to retain its familiar compact design while receiving a significant display upgrade.
Apple has gradually expanded OLED technology across its premium devices, and introducing the panel to the iPad mini would represent a major step in bringing high-end display quality to a wider audience.

The refreshed tablet is expected to debut alongside Apple’s upcoming hardware announcements, which are also likely to include the next-generation iPhone lineup.
More Affordable iPad Also in the Works
The report also claims Apple is developing a new entry-level iPad, internally known as J581.
While its exterior design is expected to remain unchanged, the tablet could receive a more powerful processor aimed at improving overall performance for everyday tasks, productivity and entertainment.
Industry reports suggest this model may arrive during the first quarter of 2027.
iPad Air Lineup Could Also Receive an Upgrade
Apple is reportedly planning refreshed iPad Air models in both 11-inch and 13-inch screen sizes.

Internally codenamed J807 and J837, these devices are expected to launch alongside future iPad Pro updates.
According to Gurman’s report, Apple is also exploring OLED technology for future iPad Air models, although the standard iPad is expected to continue using LCD displays to maintain an affordable price point.
New Apple Pencil Models May Debut Too
The tablet refresh may also be accompanied by updated Apple Pencil accessories.
Reports indicate that Apple is developing revised versions of both the USB-C Apple Pencil and the Apple Pencil Pro.
The new styluses are expected to feature redesigned batteries that comply with upcoming European Union regulations aimed at improving battery replaceability and sustainability in consumer electronics.
No Official Confirmation Yet
Apple has not officially confirmed the upcoming products or their launch schedule.
As with all pre-launch reports, the specifications and release timeline remain subject to change until the company makes a formal announcement.
However, if the leaks are accurate, the addition of OLED technology to the iPad mini could make it one of the most significant upgrades to Apple’s compact tablet lineup in recent years.
