BCCI announces last-minute squad changes as Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi replace injured Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy ahead of India's England ODIs and Zimbabwe T20Is.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced two important changes to India’s national squads ahead of the upcoming ODI series against England and the T20I series against Zimbabwe after injuries sidelined Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy.

The changes were confirmed shortly after India’s T20I series against England concluded. While the series itself didn’t go in India’s favour, it also brought injury concerns that required immediate action from the Ajit Agarkar-led Selection Committee.

According to the BCCI, Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the England ODI series after suffering a Grade 1 hamstring injury. The young fast bowler experienced discomfort in his right hamstring during the third T20I at Trent Bridge, and medical scans later confirmed the injury. He will now report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) for further treatment and rehabilitation.

Replacing him in the ODI squad is Prince Yadav, who has continued to impress selectors with his performances in recent months. The young pacer caught attention during the IPL 2026 while representing Lucknow Super Giants, and despite India’s disappointing T20I campaign against England, his disciplined bowling left a strong impression on the team management.

Meanwhile, Varun Chakaravarthy has also suffered a fresh setback. The mystery spinner complained of discomfort in his left hamstring during the third T20I against England. An MRI scan revealed a Grade 2 hamstring injury, ruling him out of India’s upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe.

With Varun unavailable, the selectors have recalled Ravi Bishnoi, one of India’s most dependable leg-spinners in the shortest format. Bishnoi’s inclusion strengthens the bowling attack and provides the team with valuable experience for the Zimbabwe tour.
