Veteran Bollywood icon Zeenat Aman has once again stirred conversation with her candid views on relationships, openly advocating for live-in arrangements before marriage. At 74, the actor remains unapologetically vocal about modern-day partnerships, even as her stance continues to divide opinion.

In a recent interaction with Shubra Aiyappa, Zeenat explained why she believes live-in relationships are not just relevant but necessary in today’s world. According to her, understanding compatibility before entering a lifelong commitment is crucial.

“Wouldn’t you rather have five joyous years instead of fifteen miserable ones?” she remarked, summing up her perspective in a line that has quickly gone viral.

Zeenat emphasized that relationships are not fairy tales with permanent happy endings. “Nothing lasts forever… relationships are always a work in progress,” she said, adding that emotional, mental, and practical compatibility should be evaluated before marriage.

She pointed out that couples must align on key aspects such as finances, parenting, and long-term goals. Without this understanding, she questioned the logic of formalizing a relationship through marriage.

“If there is no compatibility, what’s the point?” she added, highlighting the importance of real-world understanding over romantic idealism.
