Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir's Silent Edgbaston Nets Session Sparks Buzz Before England ODI | Dainik Diary
Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir reportedly shared no direct conversation during India's Edgbaston practice session ahead of the first ODI against England.

Just hours before India’s opening ODI against England at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, attention has shifted away from match preparations and towards an intriguing moment involving Virat Kohli and India head coach Gautam Gambhir.

According to media reports, the two cricketing figures did not exchange a single direct conversation during India’s primary practice session, a development that has fuelled fresh discussions among fans and cricket observers.

Silent Interaction Becomes Talking Point

While India captain Shubman Gill led the team’s preparations on the field, much of the spotlight remained fixed on the body language between Gambhir and Kohli.

Reports suggest that throughout the evening training session, there was no visible one-on-one interaction between the head coach and the former India captain.

The reported silence stood in contrast to the interactions seen between Gambhir and other senior players during practice.

Kohli Focused on Batting Preparation

Despite the speculation, Virat Kohli appeared fully engaged in his preparations for the upcoming ODI series.

During the nets, the veteran batter was reportedly seen spending considerable time discussing technical aspects of his batting with India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak.

Kohli was also observed interacting with senior opener Rohit Sharma while continuing his practice routine.

However, according to reports, Gambhir watched Kohli’s batting session from a distance and was not seen engaging in direct conversation with him.

Rohit Sharma Seen Speaking With Gambhir

Unlike Kohli, Rohit Sharma was reportedly seen having an animated discussion with Gautam Gambhir after completing his own batting session.

The conversation is believed to have revolved around pitch conditions, swing on offer and workload management ahead of the first ODI.

The interaction quickly attracted attention after videos and photographs from the practice session surfaced online.

Social Media Fuels Speculation

The absence of visible communication between Kohli and Gambhir soon became a trending topic across social media platforms, with fans analysing every movement from the training session.

Several online discussions highlighted that Gambhir appeared to spend time speaking with players including KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, while no similar exchange with Kohli was captured during practice.

However, neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) nor the Indian team management has indicated that there is any issue within the dressing room.

In recent public interactions, Gambhir has consistently dismissed suggestions of internal divisions, maintaining that the team’s entire focus remains on performing well on the field.

Focus Now Shifts to the ODI Series

With the opening ODI fast approaching, India’s priority will be delivering a strong performance against England.

While off-field speculation continues to dominate headlines, the performances of experienced players such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are expected to play a crucial role as India looks to begin the series on a positive note.

For now, the discussion surrounding the reported silence remains based on observations from the practice session, while the real answers are likely to come once the action begins on the field.
