Suriya’s Vishwanath and Sons a ‘200% Blockbuster’, Says Producer Naga Vamsi After Karuppu Success
Producer Naga Vamsi says Suriya's Vishwanath and Sons is a "200 per cent blockbuster" ahead of its August 14 theatrical release.

Chennai: After delivering one of the biggest box office successes of his career with Karuppu, Suriya is preparing for his next major release, Vishwanath and Sons, and expectations are already soaring. While fans are eagerly waiting to see the actor return in a romantic family drama, producer Naga Vamsi has further fueled the excitement by confidently declaring the film a “200 per cent blockbuster.”

The bold statement comes at a time when Suriya’s career has regained remarkable momentum. Karuppu, which hit theatres in May, crossed the ₹300 crore mark worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of the year. The blockbuster not only marked a strong comeback for the actor after a string of disappointing performances but also injected fresh energy into the Tamil film industry.

With the success of Karuppu still making headlines, all attention has now shifted to Vishwanath and Sons, scheduled to release on August 14.

‘My Confidence Has Increased,’ Says Naga Vamsi

Speaking during a recent interview, producer Naga Vamsi, whose Sithara Entertainments is backing the project, was asked whether the phenomenal success of Karuppu had increased the pressure on the upcoming film.

Instead of admitting pressure, the producer revealed that the previous success has only strengthened his belief in the new project.

According to him, after watching the completed film, he has absolute confidence that audiences will embrace it wholeheartedly. He described it as a complete family entertainer, saying viewers would enjoy every moment without hesitation.

His most talked-about remark, however, was calling the film a “200 per cent blockbuster,” a statement that has quickly gone viral among movie lovers.

Suriya Returns to Romance After a Long Gap

One of the biggest attractions of Vishwanath and Sons is Suriya’s return to the romantic drama genre after several years.

In the film, Suriya plays Sanjay Vishwanath, an experienced pistol shooter in his forties who is struggling to maintain his competitive edge and disciplined lifestyle.

His life changes unexpectedly when Maddy, played by Mamitha Baiju, enters the picture. Despite a significant age difference, Maddy falls in love with Sanjay, leading to an emotional journey that explores relationships, personal insecurities, family dynamics, and social perceptions.

The unique storyline has already generated curiosity among audiences who are eager to see Suriya in a different avatar compared to his recent action-heavy performances.

Power-Packed Supporting Cast

Apart from Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, the film features an impressive ensemble cast including Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Nasser, Sudha, Raghu Babu, and Sunil Reddy.

The project is produced by Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments along with Sai Soujanya under Fortune Four Cinemas, while Srikara Studios presents the film.

On the technical front, the film brings together several acclaimed names from the industry. The music has been composed by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography is handled by Nimish Ravi, and editing is by Navin Nooli.

The combination of an emotional storyline, an unconventional romance, a strong supporting cast, and positive early reactions from the producers has made the film one of the most anticipated releases of August.

Whether it lives up to the producer’s bold “200 per cent blockbuster” prediction will ultimately depend on audience response after its theatrical release.

Naga Vamsi Also in the News Over Jr NTR-Trivikram Project

Meanwhile, Naga Vamsi has also been making headlines for another major announcement. Recently, he joined Jr NTR in unveiling a new film directed by Trivikram Srinivas, with promotional material hinting at a mythological story inspired by Lord Murugan (Karthikeya).

However, the announcement soon sparked debate after its wording suggested the deity was “born in the North,” drawing criticism from sections of Tamil audiences and triggering discussions across social media.

Despite the controversy, the focus for now remains firmly on Vishwanath and Sons, as fans eagerly count down to its theatrical release on August 14.
