‘I Deserved Clarity, Not Ridicule’: Shashank Singh Slams Chhattisgarh Cricket Association After Puducherry Move

Punjab Kings all-rounder Shashank Singh has made serious allegations against the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) after ending his seven-year association with the state team and joining Puducherry for the 2026-27 domestic season.

The 34-year-old cricketer claimed that the state association failed to support him during his injury rehabilitation and repeatedly overlooked him despite his consistent performances in domestic cricket.

Having received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the CSCS, Shashank is now free to represent Puducherry in the upcoming domestic season.

Speaking about his decision to leave Chhattisgarh, Shashank expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of transparency from the state association.

The all-rounder stressed that he was not asking for special treatment but expected honest communication after years of service.“I’m not saying you give me preferential treatment, but someone who won the BCCI award for the best domestic white-ball all-rounder at least deserves some clarity, not ridicule.”

Responds to IPL Allegations

Shashank also rejected claims that he was more interested in playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) than domestic cricket.

According to the batter, such allegations ignored his commitment and achievements in the domestic circuit.

He pointed out that he was honoured with the prestigious Lala Amarnath Award by the BCCI as the Best All-Rounder in Domestic Limited-Overs Competitions for the 2023-24 season, recognition he believes reflects his dedication to domestic cricket.“I was told that I only want to play in the IPL and not for Chhattisgarh. The reality is that I was adjudged India’s best white-ball domestic all-rounder by the BCCI.”

Strong Domestic Record

During his seven seasons representing Chhattisgarh, Shashank established himself as one of the state’s key performers across formats.

In 24 First-Class matches, he scored runs at an average of 29.19, including one century and six half-centuries.

His List A record was even more impressive, with 927 runs in 31 matches at an average of 40.30, alongside two centuries and three fifties.

In T20 cricket, the all-rounder featured in 42 matches, scoring 653 runs at a strike rate of 129.30 while also claiming 18 wickets, highlighting his value as a genuine all-rounder.

A Fresh Start With Puducherry

With the transfer now complete, Shashank will begin a new chapter with Puducherry, hoping for a fresh environment ahead of the upcoming domestic campaign.

The experienced all-rounder’s public criticism has also reignited conversations about player management, communication and transparency within state cricket associations.

As one of India’s accomplished domestic performers, Shashank will now look to let his performances on the field do the talking while starting afresh in new colours.
