Mumbai: In a heartwarming show of support for Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, comedian Samay Raina has booked an entire theatre in Mumbai for a special screening of their latest spy-action entertainer, Alpha. His gesture comes at a time when the film has been receiving mixed reviews from both critics and audiences but continues to generate strong buzz at the box office.
Sharing the update on social media, Samay Raina revealed that the screening was his way of expressing gratitude to the two actresses for appearing on the comeback episode of his popular comedy show, India’s Got Latent.
“It’s just a small gesture from me to show love to Alia and Sharvari for being so cool that they came on my show’s first episode. Love them both and super excited to see their movie,” Samay wrote, inviting fans to join him for the screening.
Samay Raina’s comeback with India’s Got Latent
The comedian recently revived India’s Got Latent after its first season was taken down following a controversy. The show’s return featured Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as special panellists, making the premiere episode one of the most talked-about releases online.
During the episode, Samay entertained viewers with light-hearted jokes, including playful references to Alia Bhatt’s previous box-office setback, Jigra. Meanwhile, Sharvari won praise from viewers for her witty responses and comic timing.
Despite receiving mixed reactions on social media, the episode emerged as a major success, reportedly claiming the No. 1 trending position on Netflix. The new season is also available on YouTube, expanding its reach to a wider audience.
Alpha continues strong theatrical run
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha marks a significant milestone for the YRF Spy Universe as its first female-led spy thriller. The film stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and several other prominent actors in key roles.
The movie serves as the seventh chapter in the blockbuster franchise that includes Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, War 2, and Tiger 3.
Although audience opinions remain divided, Alpha has managed an encouraging commercial start, collecting approximately ₹37 crore worldwide within its first two days.
