As protests over the NEET paper leak controversy continue across India, actor Rajpal Yadav has appealed for calm, dialogue, and a peaceful resolution to the issue. His message comes at a time when the Central Government is introducing stricter measures to tackle examination malpractice and restore confidence in the country’s testing system.

Sharing a video on Instagram, Rajpal Yadav stressed the need to resolve the ongoing crisis through meaningful conversations rather than confrontation.

In his video message, Rajpal Yadav said that the issue should not divide society, as both the government and the students are part of the same nation.”The government is ours, and the children are ours too. Centre moves to strengthen anti-paper leak law

Rajpal Yadav’s appeal coincides with significant action by the Union Government to address the controversy.

According to reports, the Union Cabinet has approved amendments to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, with the aim of making India’s anti-paper leak law more stringent. The proposed amendment bill is expected to be introduced in Parliament on July 27.

The move is part of a broader effort to tighten oversight of public examinations and strengthen legal action against those involved in examination fraud.

NTA initiates major overhaul

In another major development, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has reportedly terminated 47 officials as part of a sweeping internal crackdown.

Sources indicate that legal and criminal proceedings may also be initiated against some individuals as authorities seek accountability for alleged irregularities. The action forms part of a wider restructuring of the NTA following repeated controversies surrounding examination leaks.

Government sources have described the reforms as one of several major decisions taken in recent days to improve transparency and restore public trust in the examination process.

Student protests continue across the country

The NEET paper leak issue has triggered weeks of demonstrations, particularly in New Delhi, where students have demanded accountability and systemic reforms.

The movement also received support from climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who recently concluded his 26-day hunger strike after participating in the protests. Several opposition parties have also expressed support for the students’ demands.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated that protecting the future of India’s youth remains a top priority. He announced the establishment of fast-track courts to ensure swift trials in paper leak cases and warned that those responsible for compromising students’ futures would face strict action.
