We’re Hoping… Marco Rubio Drops Big Hint on Trump’s India Visit ‘Early Next Year’ Amid Rising India–US Momentum

In a major diplomatic development reflecting growing warmth in India–US relations, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated that preparations are underway for a potential visit by President Donald Trump to India in the early months of next year.

Speaking in an exclusive interaction with IANS at the White House, Rubio revealed that the US administration is actively working to schedule the high-profile visit, which is expected to further strengthen strategic and economic cooperation between the two countries.

“I look forward to returning before the end of the year and setting up a Presidential visit in the early parts of next year,” Rubio said, suggesting that groundwork is already being laid for the trip.

When asked directly whether Trump’s India visit is likely to happen next year, Rubio responded cautiously but optimistically, saying, “We’re hoping. That’s what we’re working towards sometime early next year to have the President come.”

The statement has sparked diplomatic interest, as a US Presidential visit to India is often seen as a major milestone in bilateral relations, covering areas such as trade, defence cooperation, and Indo-Pacific strategy.

Rubio also highlighted that the current trajectory of India–US relations remains strong, particularly after the recent interaction between President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.

According to him, that meeting helped reinforce mutual understanding and gave further momentum to ongoing discussions, including a possible bilateral trade agreement between the two nations.

Diplomatic experts believe that if the visit materialises, it could mark a significant phase in US foreign policy engagement with India, especially at a time when global alliances are undergoing rapid shifts.
