Indian Seafarers Face New Gulf Restriction… DGMA Issues Big Strait of Hormuz Advisory Amid Rising Ship Attacks
Ship owners and RPSL companies told not to deploy Indian crew on vessels passing through the strategic waterway until further notice over growing security concerns.
The safety of Indian seafarers working on international vessels has become a major concern after the Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) issued a fresh advisory restricting their deployment in ships travelling through the Strait of Hormuz.
The DGMA has instructed ship owners, ship managers, and Recruitment and Placement Service Licence (RPSL) companies not to send Indian maritime workers on vessels operating through the sensitive Gulf waterway until further notice.
The decision comes amid a sharp increase in attacks and security threats targeting commercial vessels in and around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes.
