Jr NTR to Undergo Shoulder Surgery Today After ‘Dragon’ Set Injury: What We Know About His Recovery
Jr NTR is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery in Hyderabad on August 12 after a medical evaluation following his recent injury. The actor’s team has asked fans and the media to respect his privacy during the recovery period.
Jr NTR is facing an unexpected pause in his busy film schedule after suffering a shoulder injury while working on his upcoming film Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel.
The actor is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery in Hyderabad on August 12, 2026, following a detailed medical evaluation. His team has confirmed the procedure and requested fans, well-wishers and the media to respect his privacy as he undergoes treatment and begins the recovery process.
Jr NTR’s injury takes a serious turn
The latest development comes only weeks after Jr NTR’s team announced that the actor had sustained a shoulder injury and had initially been advised to take complete rest for six to eight weeks.
At the time, his team said there was no reason for panic and that doctors were monitoring his recovery. However, following further medical evaluation, surgery has now been recommended.
The injury reportedly occurred while Jr NTR was shooting for Dragon, although the actor’s initial statement did not officially specify that the injury happened on the film’s sets. Reports have since linked the injury to the production.
What does this mean for Dragon?
Despite the setback, there is currently no indication that Dragon has been given a new release date.
The Jr NTR–Prashanth Neel film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on June 11, 2027. The project, earlier known by its working title NTRNeel, was officially unveiled as Dragon earlier this year.
The film has already created considerable buzz with its first glimpse, which introduced Jr NTR as Luger, a dangerous character operating in the world of the 1960s opium trade.
Set in 1967, the story revolves around the Afghan Trading Company and its involvement in the opium trade. Jr NTR plays the organisation’s Assassin-in-Chief, promising another intense action role for the actor.
The film also features Rukmini Vasanth, Anil Kapoor, Biju Menon, Guru Somasundaram, Ashutosh Rana and several other actors in important roles.

Fans asked to respect Jr NTR’s privacy
With the actor now preparing for surgery, his team has appealed to fans and the media to give him the privacy he needs during this period.
The focus, for now, is on ensuring a smooth recovery before he returns to his demanding film commitments.
For an actor known for physically demanding performances and action-heavy roles, adequate recovery will be particularly important before he resumes shooting.
Jr NTR’s packed film lineup

The injury comes at a busy point in Jr NTR’s career.
He recently appeared in War 2, sharing the screen with Hrithik Roshan in his major Hindi-film outing. The actor had earlier delivered a major pan-India success with RRR and subsequently appeared in Devara: Part 1.
After Dragon, Jr NTR is also expected to collaborate with filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas on a project that has been tentatively referred to as NTRxTrivikram.
The project is reportedly planned as a mythological action film centred on Lord Murugan, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
For now, however, the priority is firmly on Jr NTR’s health. Fans will be hoping that the surgery goes smoothly and that the actor can make a complete recovery before returning to the sets.
With Dragon still scheduled for June 2027, there is plenty of time for the superstar to recover—but his next few weeks will be crucial as he begins the road back to work.
