Hyundai’s upcoming Bayon-based SUV and next-generation Creta are expected to introduce hybrid-ready engines, advanced AI-powered features, and a fresh design language for Indian buyers.

New Delhi: Hyundai Motor Company is preparing for a major product offensive in India, with plans to introduce a range of new petrol, hybrid, and electric vehicles by the end of the decade. Among the most anticipated launches are an all-new compact SUV based on the Hyundai Bayon and the next-generation Hyundai Creta, both expected to arrive during FY2026-27.

The Korean automaker has already revealed its ambitious roadmap to launch 26 new models by 2030, and these two SUVs are expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Hyundai’s position in India’s highly competitive utility vehicle segment.

Bayon-Based SUV Could Introduce Hyundai’s New Hybrid-Ready Engine

Internally known by the codename Bc4i, Hyundai’s upcoming Bayon-based SUV is expected to make its India debut between July and September 2026.

What makes this vehicle particularly interesting is the introduction of Hyundai’s all-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. According to industry reports, the powertrain has been engineered to be more compact and fuel-efficient than the current 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit available in the Creta.

The new engine is also expected to support hybrid technology, potentially becoming Hyundai’s primary hybrid powertrain for compact and midsize SUVs across both Indian and international markets.

On the technology front, the upcoming SUV is likely to be packed with premium features, including:

  • Dual-screen dashboard setup
  • Wireless smartphone connectivity
  • Connected car technology
  • Automatic climate control
  • Ambient cabin lighting
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Rear AC vents
  • 360-degree surround-view camera

The feature-rich package suggests Hyundai is aiming to attract younger buyers seeking a blend of technology, comfort, and fuel efficiency.

Next-Generation Creta Could Get a Complete Makeover

Following the launch of the Bayon-based SUV, Hyundai is expected to introduce the third-generation Creta, which could arrive shortly afterward.

Unlike a routine facelift, the next-generation Creta is expected to undergo a comprehensive transformation. Reports indicate the SUV will be built on Hyundai’s new K3 platform, bringing improvements in design, cabin space, technology, and efficiency.

One of the biggest highlights could be the introduction of a strong hybrid powertrain. Hyundai is reportedly evaluating two possible approaches: electrifying the existing 1.5-litre petrol engine or pairing hybrid technology with the new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine debuting in the Bayon-based SUV.

If confirmed, this would mark a significant step in Hyundai’s strategy to cater to growing demand for fuel-efficient vehicles while reducing emissions.

Advanced Technology and AI Features Expected

The next-generation Creta is also likely to become the first Hyundai model in India to feature the company’s new Pleos Connect ecosystem.

The upgraded infotainment package is expected to include:

  • Larger central touchscreen display
  • Slim digital driver’s instrument cluster
  • Built-in Gleo AI integration
  • Enhanced connected car capabilities

Additional upgrades could include refreshed upholstery options, redesigned door trims, adjustable rear headrests, and an improved Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite.

Bigger, Smarter, and More Spacious

Beyond technology upgrades, Hyundai is expected to increase the dimensions of the new Creta. Industry sources suggest the SUV could become longer, wider, and more spacious than the current generation model, offering improved passenger comfort and luggage capacity.

As competition intensifies in India’s SUV market, Hyundai appears ready to counter rivals with a combination of hybrid technology, premium features, and advanced digital experiences.

With the Bayon-based SUV introducing a new generation of powertrains and the next-gen Creta bringing a complete redesign, Hyundai’s upcoming launches could become some of the most closely watched automotive debuts in the coming years.
