Hrithik Roshan Replaces Shah Rukh Khan in Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 Cameo
Hrithik Roshan is reportedly set to reunite with Rajinikanth in Jailer 2 after nearly 40 years since Bhagwan Dada.

One of the biggest casting surprises in Indian cinema has reportedly unfolded with actor Hrithik Roshan joining the star-studded cast of Jailer 2 for a special cameo appearance alongside superstar Rajinikanth.

According to industry sources, Hrithik has stepped into a role that was initially expected to be played by Shah Rukh Khan. However, due to scheduling commitments and creative priorities surrounding his upcoming film King, Shah Rukh reportedly had to opt out of the project.

The development has instantly created excitement among fans, especially because it marks Hrithik Roshan’s on-screen reunion with Rajinikanth after almost 40 years. The two actors were previously seen together in the 1986 film Bhagwan Dada, where Hrithik appeared as a child artist long before becoming one of Bollywood’s biggest stars.

A source close to the production revealed that Hrithik’s role, though brief, carries significant impact in the storyline.

“Hrithik is definitely doing a strong cameo in Jailer 2. He plays Rajini sir’s friend who enters the story during a crucial moment to help him in a crisis. Hrithik will reportedly shoot his portions later this month,” the source stated.

Directed by filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is among the most anticipated films in South Indian cinema following the massive success of the first installment. The sequel is expected to feature large-scale action, emotional drama, and multiple high-profile cameos.

Interestingly, reports suggest that the production team recently decided to reshoot several portions of the film despite principal shooting being completed earlier.

According to insiders, the makers were not entirely satisfied with certain scenes after reviewing the film internally. As a result, a few actors have reportedly been called back for reshoots to enhance the overall impact of the movie.

Before Hrithik Roshan came onboard, Shah Rukh Khan was said to be in advanced discussions for the cameo role, with shooting dates reportedly locked. However, the actor’s focus remains firmly on King, a project considered highly important because it marks the theatrical debut of his daughter Suhana Khan.

As per reports, Shah Rukh wanted to maintain the exclusivity of his look from King and avoid appearing in another film with a similar appearance before its release.

A source quoted in entertainment reports claimed, “SRK was open to doing the cameo, but he requested that the release timeline be aligned after King because he wanted his appearance to remain exclusive to that film.”

Apart from Rajinikanth and Hrithik Roshan, Jailer 2 also boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Vidya Balan, who is making her Tamil cinema debut, alongside actors SJ Suriya, Mithun Chakraborty, and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.

With multiple stars, reshoots underway, and now Hrithik Roshan’s surprise entry, anticipation around Jailer 2 continues to grow rapidly across both Bollywood and South Indian cinema audiences.
