Actor Dhanush inaugurated a new academic block at his former school in Chennai and encouraged students to take pride in learning Tamil.

Award-winning actor Dhanush revisited his alma mater, Thai Sathya Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai, for an emotional homecoming that turned into an inspiring lesson on education, language, and gratitude.

The actor inaugurated a newly constructed academic block, which was funded by him, and spent time interacting with teachers, students, and former classmates. His visit quickly became the highlight of the day as he shared personal memories and encouraged students to stay connected to their roots.

Dhanush’s Message on the Importance of Tamil

Speaking to students during the event, Dhanush reflected on his own school life and admitted that English was never his strongest subject. However, he said his command over Tamil always gave him confidence.

He encouraged students to become proficient in multiple languages but stressed that they should never neglect their mother tongue.

According to the actor, learning English can open doors to global opportunities, but forgetting one’s native language means losing an important part of one’s identity and cultural heritage.

A Lesson From an International Film Set

Sharing an incident from the shooting of a French film, Dhanush recalled being asked whether he could speak English. When he replied that he could, members of the crew reportedly told him that while English was useful, respecting and preserving one’s mother tongue carried greater significance.

Giving Back to the School That Shaped Him

The event also highlighted Dhanush’s commitment to giving back to the institution where he studied until Class 10.

According to cinematographer A. Kumaran, a former classmate of the actor, the decision to construct the new academic block came after Dhanush learned about the school’s infrastructure needs.

On the professional front, Dhanush continues to stay busy with multiple film projects.

His upcoming film OM has already generated significant excitement among fans, with its first song receiving a positive response ahead of the movie’s scheduled theatrical release in October.
