‘Deeply Concerned’: CJP Demands Release of Protesters, Withdrawal of FIRs Nationwide After Suspending NEET Agitation

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has called on the Central Government to ensure the immediate release of protesters detained in connection with the nationwide NEET paper leak agitation and to withdraw all FIRs registered against them across the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das expressed concern over reports that student activists and protesters were allegedly being targeted in several states despite assurances given during discussions that led to the suspension of the party’s nationwide protest.

CJP raises concerns over reported detentions

According to Saurav Das, the party has received multiple reports of students and protesters being detained or arrested in states including Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar.”We are deeply concerned by multiple reports reaching us of students and other protestors being targeted, detained, or arrested by various state agencies, particularly in Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar,” Das said.

The party alleged that its decision to suspend the nationwide agitation came only after the Union Government assured its leadership that no punitive or retaliatory action would be taken against protesters, particularly in states governed by the BJP or NDA.

Appeal to Union ministers

The CJP urged Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Union Minister Jitendra Singh to intervene and ensure that the assurances made during the discussions are implemented without delay.

Calling on the Centre to honour its commitment, Das said:”We call upon the Government of India to immediately honour the assurance given to us by ensuring the release of those detained and by directing that no coercive or retaliatory action is taken against any protestor anywhere in the country. The FIRs registered ought to be withdrawn too.”

The party further claimed that the government had committed to providing a written assurance on the matter by Tuesday.

Legal team extends support

According to the statement, the CJP’s legal team is already coordinating with lawyers in the affected states to secure the release of those detained and provide legal assistance wherever required.

The party said it remains in touch with local legal representatives to monitor developments and support individuals facing legal proceedings linked to the protests.

Warning of further action

Issuing a strong warning, Saurav Das said the government’s credibility depended on fulfilling the commitments made during negotiations. He stated that any departure from those assurances would amount to “a breach of trust” not only with the CJP but also with the thousands of young people who chose dialogue over continued protests.

The party has demanded that all detained protesters be released and all FIRs linked to the agitation be withdrawn by Tuesday. It added that if the demands are not met, it would consider taking “further necessary steps,” although it did not specify what those measures would involve.

The CJP has maintained that it remains committed to resolving the issue through dialogue but expects the government to uphold the commitments it says were made during negotiations.
