Although McDonald clarified that he had no inside information regarding Stokes’ future, he said a return for the Ashes would generate enormous excitement.
According to the Australian coach, the ideal narrative would see Stokes come out of retirement for one final battle against Australia, adding another memorable chapter to one of cricket’s most celebrated contests.

In 2022, Stokes reversed his retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs) to help England defend their title at the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Meanwhile, England has confirmed the schedule for the Ashes 2027, with the opening Test set to begin at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on June 18.
The five-match series will then move to Lord’s, Edgbaston, The Rose Bowl, and conclude at The Oval, promising another blockbuster chapter in one of cricket’s fiercest rivalries.
