Anant Ambani: Reliance Kutch Green Energy Hub to Generate 40 Billion Units of Power
Anant Ambani announces that Reliance’s integrated green energy hub in Gujarat’s Kutch region will generate over 40 billion units of renewable power annually.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is moving aggressively toward a greener future with the development of a massive renewable energy hub in Gujarat’s Kutch region, a project that could significantly reshape India’s clean energy landscape.

Speaking at the 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries, Anant Ambani, Executive Director of the company, revealed that the integrated green energy facility is expected to generate more than 40 billion units of electricity annually once fully operational.

According to Ambani, the ambitious project is being designed as one of the world’s largest integrated renewable energy ecosystems, combining solar power generation and battery energy storage systems into a single, highly efficient platform.

“This hub is being built to deliver round-the-clock power at a gigawatt scale through a unique integrated architecture of solar and storage technologies,” Ambani said during the AGM.

He emphasized that the facility is expected to become one of the lowest-cost sources of continuous green energy globally, reinforcing Reliance’s commitment to sustainability while supporting India’s growing energy demands.

Reliance Eyes Global Green Ammonia Opportunities

Beyond electricity generation, Reliance is also expanding its ambitions in the clean energy sector through green ammonia production.

Anant Ambani disclosed that the company is currently engaged in discussions with firms across Japan and several European nations regarding potential long-term supply agreements for green ammonia.

Green ammonia is increasingly being viewed as a crucial component in the global energy transition, with applications ranging from industrial fuel to clean hydrogen transportation.

Major Manufacturing Investments Underway

The Reliance executive also highlighted a series of large-scale industrial projects aimed at strengthening India’s manufacturing capabilities and reducing dependence on imports.

Among the major developments is the company’s upcoming 3-million-tonne Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) facility at Dahej, which is progressing rapidly. PTA is a key raw material used in the production of polyester and various industrial applications.

According to Ambani, the new plant will further strengthen Reliance’s position as one of the world’s most cost-efficient petrochemical producers.

Hazira Carbon Fibre Facility to Support Advanced Industries

Another significant project is Reliance’s upcoming carbon fibre manufacturing facility in Hazira, Gujarat.

The plant is expected to become one of the largest and most technologically advanced carbon fibre facilities globally. Carbon fibre plays a critical role in sectors such as renewable energy, hydrogen technologies, advanced manufacturing, robotics, aerospace, and defence.

The project is expected to support India’s efforts to become a global manufacturing hub for next-generation industrial materials.

Expansion of PVC and CPVC Production

Reliance is also expanding its production capacity in PVC and CPVC, materials widely used across housing, infrastructure, water distribution, and industrial projects.

A key part of this strategy includes the construction of a 1.2-million-tonne PVC plant at Nagothane. The investment aims to reduce India’s dependence on imported materials while supporting the country’s rapidly growing infrastructure sector.

Driving India’s Next Phase of Growth

Anant Ambani stated that these investments are aligned with Reliance’s long-term vision of supporting domestic demand, increasing value-added exports, and strengthening India’s position in global manufacturing.

With its green energy hub, advanced material facilities, and petrochemical expansion projects, Reliance is positioning itself at the center of India’s transition toward a more sustainable and industrially competitive future.
