Only One Shiv Sena Remains: Amit Shah’s Big Political Message Signals Endgame for Uddhav Camp?
From ‘Shinde faction’ to the ‘real Shiv Sena’—Amit Shah’s Kolhapur remark intensifies Maharashtra’s political battle
In a statement that could redefine Maharashtra’s political landscape, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that “only one Shiv Sena remains”, taking a direct swipe at Uddhav Thackeray and his faction.
Addressing a public gathering in Kolhapur, Shah’s remark is being seen as a clear endorsement of Eknath Shinde’s leadership and a signal that the political transition within the Shiv Sena is now complete.
“No Faction Anymore…” — Shah’s Bold Assertion
Speaking in Hindi, Amit Shah said that earlier people referred to Shinde’s group as the “Shiv Sena–Shinde faction”, but that distinction no longer exists.
“Now no faction remains anymore… there is only one Shiv Sena,” Shah declared, underlining what appears to be the BJP’s final stamp of legitimacy on Shinde’s camp.
The statement comes after years of political maneuvering following the dramatic split in 2022 that reshaped Maharashtra politics.
MPs’ Move Adds Fuel to the Fire
The timing of Shah’s remark is crucial. Reports indicate that six out of nine Lok Sabha MPs from Uddhav Thackeray’s faction skipped a key parliamentary meeting in Delhi and instead wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, expressing intent to form a separate group.
This development is widely seen as a step toward a formal merger with Shinde’s Shiv Sena, which would further strengthen the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A Split Years in the Making
The Shiv Sena split began in 2022 when Eknath Shinde broke away from Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership, triggering a political crisis in Maharashtra. Since then, the battle has been fought on multiple fronts—legal, electoral, and ideological.

Shinde’s faction eventually secured the party name and iconic symbol originally established by Bal Thackeray, strengthening its claim as the “real” Shiv Sena.
Amit Shah has consistently backed this narrative, earlier stating in Mumbai that “Shinde has shown which is the real Shiv Sena.”
War of Words Continues
Leaders from Uddhav Thackeray’s camp have strongly pushed back against the BJP’s stance. Senior नेता Sanjay Raut mocked Shah’s claim, drawing a sharp analogy.

He quipped that such a statement was like saying a major US political party belongs to someone unrelated—adding that “everyone knows who controls Shinde’s party.”
Bigger Political Implications
Amit Shah’s latest remark is more than just rhetoric—it signals what the BJP sees as the completion of a strategic political shift in Maharashtra.
With shifting loyalties, MP movements, and symbolic victories, the battle for Shiv Sena’s identity may be nearing its decisive chapter.
However, with Uddhav Thackeray still commanding a loyal voter base, the political contest is far from over—especially with future elections on the horizon.
