Amaal Mallik Alleges Paid PR Campaign Against Awarapan 2 and Yeh Awarapan Song
Amaal Mallik has alleged that a paid PR campaign is targeting Awarapan 2 and its title track while thanking fans for their continued support.

Music composer Amaal Mallik has responded to the online criticism surrounding Awarapan 2 and its recently released title track Yeh Awarapan, alleging that a “paid PR” campaign is being carried out by rival elements within the film industry.

Sharing a lengthy note on social media, the composer thanked fans for the overwhelming response to the song while claiming that certain groups were deliberately attempting to create negativity around the film ahead of its theatrical release.

‘Every song deserves time to reach people’s hearts’

Beginning his message on a positive note, Amaal Mallik expressed gratitude to listeners who appreciated the emotional track.

He said every melody needs time to settle with audiences before its true impact can be measured, adding that music should be experienced with patience rather than judged immediately after release.

Alleges a ‘paid PR’ campaign

Addressing the criticism directly, Amaal alleged that some individuals from the film industry were investing in paid promotional campaigns to damage the reputation of both the film and its soundtrack.

The composer dismissed such efforts, saying those behind the campaign would be better off focusing their resources on their own upcoming projects rather than attempting to undermine someone else’s work.

He also stated that public love and appreciation cannot be manufactured through online campaigns.

Clarifies comparisons with the original Awarapan

The release of Yeh Awarapan, sung by Arijit Singh, has sparked comparisons with the soundtrack of the 2007 cult film Awarapan.

Responding to the debate, Amaal explained that several songs from the original film were adapted from previously released independent tracks and traditional compositions, while praising composer Pritam for successfully reimagining them for the film.

He also acknowledged the musical legacy of artists such as Mustafa Zahid, Rafaqat Ali Khan, and Annie, saying neither he nor his team intended to replicate or replace their iconic work.

Instead, he urged audiences to avoid unnecessary comparisons and judge the new soundtrack on its own artistic merit.

‘Be kind to music’

Concluding his message, Amaal encouraged listeners to approach music with openness and compassion.

He said songs should either connect emotionally or be respectfully set aside, rather than becoming the subject of hostile online campaigns.

The composer added that genuine appreciation from audiences remains more valuable than social media trends or numerical success.

Film set for Independence Day release

Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, is among the most anticipated Bollywood releases of the year.

The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 14, 2026, with its recently released soundtrack already generating significant discussion among fans and music lovers.
