Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's 'Alpha' continues to struggle at the box office, recovering only around 56% of its reported production budget after 12 days.

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari‘s ambitious spy-action film Alpha is finding it difficult to sustain its theatrical run, with the movie continuing to underperform at the domestic box office. Despite generating significant pre-release buzz and being positioned as a major female-led action entertainer, the film has managed to recover only around 56% of its reported production budget after nearly two weeks in cinemas.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film opened to mixed reviews and has struggled to build strong word-of-mouth, affecting its overall box office performance.

‘Alpha’ earns 1.05 crore on Day 12

According to early trade estimates, Alpha collected approximately 1.05 crore on its 12th day at the Indian box office.

The figure represents a modest 16% increase compared to the previous day, helped in part by discounted ticket offers on the second Tuesday. However, the slight improvement has done little to change the film’s overall trajectory as weekday collections remain subdued.

With the film entering the final phase of its theatrical run, industry experts believe it is unlikely to witness the kind of turnaround needed to recover its investment.

Only 56 crore recovered against 100 crore budget

Reports suggest that Alpha was made on an estimated budget of 100 crore.

So far, the film has earned around 56 crore in India, leaving nearly 44 crore of its production cost yet to be recovered from theatrical collections.

Unless the film records an unexpected surge in ticket sales, it appears unlikely to reach the break-even mark during its domestic run.

Competition affects the film’s performance

One of the biggest hurdles for Alpha has been the strong performance of Ajay Devgn‘s Dhamaal 4, which has continued to attract audiences and dominate the box office.

The intense competition has limited Alpha’s ability to expand its collections, making it increasingly difficult for the film to climb the list of the year’s highest-grossing Hindi releases.

According to trade estimates, the film still requires approximately 3.29 crore more to enter the top 10 highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2026, a target that now appears challenging.

Will ‘Alpha’ end up as a box office flop?

Based on its current performance, trade analysts believe Alpha is heading towards a disappointing theatrical finish.

While its final verdict will also depend on digital, satellite, and music rights revenues, the film’s theatrical earnings alone are unlikely to recover its reported production budget.

As the curtains begin to fall on its cinema run, Alpha serves as a reminder that even star power and large-scale action spectacles are no guarantee of box office success.

The film’s overall performance will now be closely watched, particularly for what it may signal about the commercial prospects of future female-led big-budget Bollywood action films.
