‘Virat Is a Global Star’: Novak Djokovic Reveals India Visit Plans, Hopes to Play Cricket and Tennis With Virat Kohli

The admiration between two of the world’s greatest sporting icons could soon turn into an unforgettable meeting. 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has revealed that he is planning to visit India and hopes to spend time with former India captain Virat Kohli, both on and off the field.

Speaking during the Wimbledon 2026 Championships, the Serbian tennis star shared his excitement about meeting Kohli in person after years of exchanging messages on social media.

Djokovic Wants to Play Cricket With Kohli

Djokovic said he would love to experience India’s favourite sport alongside Kohli while also inviting the cricket superstar for a game of tennis.

The Serbian revealed that the two have remained in touch through Instagram, where they have exchanged messages and expressed mutual admiration for each other’s achievements.

“I would love to play some cricket and tennis with Virat Kohli. I am planning to visit India in the near future, and we have been communicating about it,” Djokovic said.

‘Virat Is Incredible in India’

The tennis legend praised Kohli’s immense popularity, describing him as a global sporting icon.

Djokovic said that while Kohli enjoys worldwide recognition, his influence in India is extraordinary. He also expressed hope that the former India captain would personally show him around during his visit.

“I know Virat is a global star, but especially in India, he is incredible. I would love for him to be my host and show me around,” Djokovic added.

Although cricket is not widely played in Serbia, Djokovic admitted that he has developed an appreciation for the sport.
